It's less than two weeks out from Hay Days now -- the official start of the sled season!!!!
For me it's been a summer of some big modifications to the Attak. Nothing earth shattering compared to what some of you guys get into mind you, but for me its been enjoyable and I'm hoping for some good performance gains for the Attak.
So far since last spring I've done the following:
Performance :
Excel Y Pipes, Copper donuts, Gutted exhaust, Ulmer Stealth Exhaust, PCIII/ Ign Mod
Suspension:
Beef up kit, major modifications to my rear Ohlin's, including converting the EC to a clicker for compression. Also some re0valve tweaking for a tad more performance oriented ride, even from my prior re-valve, whjich was a huge inmprovement.
Bling Factor:
New gloss black monochrome windshield, billet reverse handle, new white Simmons skis and 8" wearbars on all 4, just replacing blue ones I had.
Steering:
OFT blocks, new steering bushings (combo of Ulmers Oillite and stock pieces, all new), replaced most all sections of steering linkages with new -- basically really tightening up the front end.
My big last thing for Hay Days is studs. That's what I'm looking for there, along with some mini donuts. I'm going to add 168 Woody's Golddiggers, 1.325 all double backed (because I'm way too nervous about losing a cooler!). I've never ran studs before on my own sled, but this is the year!
I'll be there Saturday with Angie and Tyler. You'll prob see the legendary and ubiqutous Arteeex and his lovely significant other also with us. We'll prob most be around the Yamaha tents; OFT Trailer; Ulmer's; and of course the TY, Chris White, and Rockmeister express tents. Did I miss anything? Oh ya, the mini donuts!
But I hope to see lots of you there. Mr Sled, are we still doing a TY photo Saturday at the Yamaha booth again?

I've been at it for weeks now and the worst part is I spray the tunnel early last week and saturday night the left side heat exchange started leaking. Rrrrrrrrrrrrr all that work and now I will have to re spray the hole thing.

My plans for the predator are pretty mild this year:
-Excel headers
-Copper donuts
-hygear revalve on ZX2
-Blowjett revalve on front Ohlins shocks
-Powdercoated front springs
-New O2 sensor
-Possible modified bender exhaust
-Retrofit a 5 gall rev race fuel tank into apex seat for a total of 15 gal of fuel on board
-Minor maint mods, bushings, oil change, gear change, coolant flush, etc.
Then this year I hope to RIDE RIDE RIDE only 700 miles lat year I need to make up some time this year!

What kind of backers are you going to run? I see double backers, but I recommend the Fast Trac airlite XL backers, they make a double backer too. With the taller neck on the backer you won't have to run a tallish aluminum nut. You can just run the standard steel lock nut, and cinch them down nice and tight. With that combo, you won't have to worry about anything.

Once you get used to studs and do a fair amount of trail riding you'll never be able to ride without them. I am trying to covince myself to get a taller lug track and no studs and I just cant. They get me out of so many pickles on icey corners, lakes, etc.
A cobra track with 1.45" studs is the biggest lug and stud combo I can fit.
