Well, I live here in North Idaho. Near Timbersled.. This year i started seeing the tracks. last week I saw the Machines. All i can say is wow. I had no idea of the performance of the Mountain Horse..Sidehill climbing was unreal. Deep Powder Performance UNREAL....I am BLOW AWAY.. a Sled can not compare.

I am guessing I posted to the wrong forum but thought ALL mountain riders should have interest..

I like the design timbersled has for the bikes. By far the best kit out there. I would like to buy one for myself and see how it does. My problem is I don't have a bike and I don't have the money to drop on one at this time. I will have one eventually. I would like to ride one.
I've heard this before, people say you can go places that a snowmobile can't. I would agree with this statement but I would also add a snowmobile can go places a bike can't.

Snow bike: 40-60 HP, 300+ lbs, price 13000.00 (new bike msrp and snow kit)
Snowmobile: 150 HP, 500+ lbs, price 12000.00 msrp

The weight of the bike gives it a big advantage, but you're limited on HP with all mods possible for a bike. If you buy the bike at the right time and get a really good deal you're looking to save about 3000.00, so final price at 10000.00. If you buy a snowmobile right time and place you can save 4500.00. Sorry about this statement I'm about to make but if you pay M.S.R.P. for any recreational vehicle you are dumb. Take the saving on both and mod them out bike and snowmobile. Bike mods will not gain as much HP as will snowmobile mods. Now take the savings on the snowmobile add some money and turbo it or supercharge it. One could pick up another 120 HP.

Snowmobile: 270 HP, 500+ lbs, price 15000.00 that assuming you pay 7000.00 for boost and 8000.00 for the sled. (I bought my nytro for 7400.00 ea. in march on 09. I got a great deal on them). That would be one fun sled and I'm very sure a bike wouldn't be able to climb and go place it could.

The snowbike looks fun and it's on my list of toys to buy.

Send some pictures next time.

We have built a few now and i will admit, they seem like a lot of fun. Should have more time on one in the next week or so and am very excited!

They look like they handle much better than the sno hawk's, my buddy has two and let me tell you we are some tired after a couple hrs.

The biggest thing the bike has going for it in your comparison...its usable YEAR round.
Thats a pretty huge factor.

Granted, they are quite different machines, and should be looked upon that way.

After seeing that vid, I'm very impressed..

How do they handle on hard pack/trails? Is the rear track wide enough to keep it from feeling real tippy in those situations?

Pretty cool. Now if your dirt bike was street legal......
I would love to try it out for a day or 2 that's for sure.
