The Future of Yamaha/AC/Textron straight from AC VP of Snowmobiles

I must be doing something wrong.. I dont get that treatment... I am going to have to relook at TY. Good thing I have a day job!!
Agree %110 Tom. You work very hard to keep this site a invaluable resource, and a fantastic experience keeping the Yammy sled enthusiest like myself engaged 12 months a year. Praise directed towards yourself and the other moderators here simply doesn’t go the distance it needs to when expressing the thanks you guys deserve. I wish this place could generate all the $ and then some for you. It would be well deserved indeed. Life is not fair.

Tom, when it comes right down to it that's about what all of us really need and want! A smile and a feel good moment every day! A little snow wouldn't be to bad either!:)

It was a lot of fun going to the Pleasant Prairie site to see the sidewinder up close and in person. I think it’s sad we won’t get to do that any longer
.The fact that Yamaha Japan decided to disband the snowmobile operations and move everything to Canada it’s just frustrating for those who look forward to seeing made-in-Japan snowmobiles being unveiled year in year out. People that worked within the Yamaha snowmobile division have shared that Yamaha is no longer interested in fighting the Snowmobile Wars.

In the supertrax magazine, I just read an article on an interview between ST and VP Craig Kennedy. Craig kennedy is saying arctic cat will lead the snowmobile industry within the next 5yrs...

Yamaha moved sled division to Canada, and a joint venture with cat, as the Japanese factory is now turning out 'apex' short range ballistic missiles. The fit and finish is awesome, as is the turbo on top! North Korea and Kim junkyard dog better beware...these are the most powerful missiles ever offered by any OEM!! DynamiteTech has them at 200 megatons, STOCK! LOL!

It would be pretty cool to have some similar insights available on Yamaha's future plans from the inside.

I couldn’t agree more. We had a good thing going with Chris Reid’s blog.

It’s a shame that no one at Yamaha continued on with his much appreciated work.

I think Chris and our guys in Pleasant Prairie that were let go, because of the move to Canada, were the last real management that cared about the snowmobile division! I get the feeling that when they all left so did the future of the sled division at Yamaha. Those true blue key people might have been the only reason Yamaha was in the sled business for the last ten years! I REALLY HOPE I'M WRONG!:dunno:

Even though he has officially retired, Chris is not completely out of the picture. From what I'm told, he still spends some time at Toronto.
In addition, there are other up and comers who are passionate about Yamaha, and snowmobiling, like Chris was.

Sure, but they are lurkers!

I generally don't "editorialize" about stuff on my computer. There's a lot of chatter because Yamaha is fiddling around with their marketing strategy, re:snowmobiles. I loved my Vector, EPS AND ENGINE. This year I totaled it. Now I'm faced with
1. used
2. new Vector with strange suspension
3. Yamacat
4. Ski Doo
The thing is.... they're all snowmobiles and that's what I like....SNOWMOBILES. I can wish all I want, but bottom line is...Look at the market and decide what's there....not what I think maybe would or could be there. Hell, I'm 76. I can't wait for some 'dream to come true'".
I do, (no pun intended) really dig this forum. It's been a great help in enabling me to really enjoy this fantastic winter sport.
