Just bought my first Nytro today. Dealer I went to was pretty shady. Don't even have time to post how the deal went and I ended up with this sweet ride after purchasing the other sled that I bought that lasted 14 miles. But any way going to ride it for the first time Saturday and was just wondering if some one could give me some insight in things to look at during my... Pre flight inspection I guess I'll call it. Thanks!

Look at the front sub-frame to see if it is bent. You can tell if it is bent by feeling around the center of it near the circular hole in it. Also if your a-arms are rusty that is another sign of it being bent. I'm sure other's will chime in w/more things to look for.

What year and how many miles? In my past experiences most Yamaha owners take quite good care of their sleds, but there's always a few that will beat the crap out of them. As 09NytroRTX mentioned above, check the front sub-frame first. Next just the obvious stuff, looking down the tunnel to see if its bent, checking the compression on the rear shock (if you haven't already).
I can't really think of much else besides take it on a short ride, watch for any engine lights on the screen and listen for anything you think is strange. Welcome to TY, there are many of us here to help!
and congrats on the new sled!

Depending on the amount of miles, it might need a-arm bushings, spindle bushings, and exhaust donuts, and maybe balljoints. If it needs exhaust donuts, the exhaust will rattle a little. Get the copper ones from Ulmer Racing, if you have to replace them. To check the front end, lift up the front and try move move the a-arms and skis to see how sloppy it is. If it needs a-arm bushings, get the oillite ones. Spindle bushings, contact UPBushman on here, and get his kit. Balljoints, try to find a leftover NCI balljoint kit from Sledtoyz. Otherwise, you'll have to go back to the dealer and get Yamaha balljoints.

I was excited when I bought my 09 xtx. I knew enough to check if the subframe was tweaked and it wasnt. The shocks should be centered, and both should be the same where they go through the A arms. My sled had 1500 miles and when I got it home I changed the wear bars. Looks like brand new. But like Bahr05 says, all my A arm bushings, ball joints and spindle bushings are toast. Unbelievable how much slop there is in there. Make sure to keep an eye on the hyfax. If they are new, they will likely wear down to about 50% in a 100 miles or so, then stay there for some time. Replace them with the Dupont hyfax when the time comes.

So not enough snow to ride today. But took it out on the lake just to try it out a little. Within 1 minute it was laying on its side and I broke my left hand guard. Hope the super glue works at $76.00 us to buy a new one! I was pissed. I was just turning and at about 2 mph caught an edge and toppled over! Are these real top heavy? Kinda glad in a way this happened though. Keeps you cautious. Sooo much power in this machine. Lifts the skis, this is the most awsome sled ever!!!

I should also add to my list of things you need is a roll over tether!! Keeps the oil from leaking out of the tank when the sled is on its side!
