I can't get my Apex to where I like it. Too much inside ski lift, too heavy in the tight trails, and just not very confidence inspiring. I have tried several adjustments and to no avail. I hate to say it but I rode my friends Rev 800 XP last weekend and fell in love. The only things holding me back is the quality, fit and finish of the Yamaha and the bulletproof motor but if I'm not having fun.......... :dunno:

wait till next week thursday to see what they come out with.
my rep told me today that there are four more models to come out and the new sleds are the most inovative he has ever saw and said that what is out now is only the tip of the iceberg!!!!!

I cant say that i've ridden a xp,but i have a lot of time on brothers 07 Rev.I felt the same way at first with my 07 RTX, but after pilot skis and lifting limiter all the way up, the sled handles real close to the rev now.I'm still playing with front float pressures.but i think lowering that front end will only help. It should rail the corners then.Concerning ski lift you just have to adjust your riding style compared to rev.But i can see your dilemma with the rev. The ski-doos are really nice machines when it comes down to it.I would say they are easier to just hop on and feel comfortable on.We both agree we wouldnt trade sleds. You get used to your own sled and what you like.I've become addicted to my rtx and wouldnt trade for the world right now,so if your havent reached that point maybe look into a rev.If i was you just make sure you can get some quality time on it in different conditions to make sure you really like it as much as you think. If i was to switch theres now doubt it would be a ski-doo not anyother brand.Their the closest to yamaha in the quality of parts i believe by far. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Its a 2006 ER with 144 studs, a Pioneer performance rebuild and heavier spring, front preload dropped so the a arms are almst parrallel to the ground, limiter strap pulled up one hole, bergstroms set up on stock skis......any other suggestions? I have avoided the 13mm sway bar because I don't like the heavy steering

I hate to make you put more money into the sled without knowing the results, but i have pilot 5.7 ski-doo skis on mine and they turn way better than stock, yet without the heavy steering.I kept going up on limiter till i got to tightest hole because steering was remaining light, but response just gets better in turns.I think the answer is in aftermarket skis as everyone that has done it says they would never go back to stock skis.I think this affects these sleds more than anyother mod.

I would do the 13 mm sway bar it is one of the best things I did the + out weigh the - by a long shot do it and you will be happy

The 13mm swaybar doesnt add to more heavy steering.. Ive tried it back to back..

Biggest thing that will help that sled is getting rid of the stock skis.. THEY SUCK, and cause most of the heavy steering and tippy feeling..

I've been contemplating the same thing, switching brands, and may do so this year. Each brand has their pros and cons. I say if you enjoyed riding the XP that much, then go for it.

If it were me, i would probobly be on a XP800 or a Crossfire 1000

Wait an see if yami comes out with someting new first

LOL ...Fit and finsh on BOTH those sleds are BAD!!I have been on them.. My buddy s have had nothing but problems.. I aim NOT saying Yam. is perfect BUT you pay for what you get.........There is NOway ether of those sleds will go 1 year without many problems ... i have seen my freinds always dealing with this ... :rules

MXD I too have the same Dilema. My 06 Attak has over 5000 miles on it. In the 5000 miles I have only missed one weekedms ridning due to a chain case issue. I really like the sled, but lately the weights beeb starting to bother me. I als revalved and resprung my shock and also added Pilot skis. I may just keep the Attak and but a Rev xp TNT for a beater sled.

Right now it really is a tough choice trying to decide on the best sled.

There are so many excellent sleds available right now.

Personally if I was to purchase a new sled today, it would again be a 2007/2008/2009? Apex RTX. Right away I'd have a pile of updates to do, including revalving the shocks, idler wheels, skis, studs, windshield, etc. but I know I'd have one of the best all around performers, plus a smooth, clean running engine that uses no oil.

My second choice would have to be a REV-XP MXZ X 800R. It would be a fairly close second choice and it doesn't really need any updates, other than a larger windshield and studs. What I hate about the MXZ is the 2-stroke smoke, smell, vibration, etc. and how the smell gets into my clothes and into my house.

The FX Nytro RTX would be my third choice, but it too would need a bunch of updates right away - very similar list to the Apex RTX.

I'd never pick up a first year sled or first year motor so some of the newer 4-stroke offerings from the competition are off the short list. I also don't really like the idea of turbo lag on a sled.

My buddy has a 05 ZR900 that is untouched .. and has 7500 miles on it..

his brother has 07 Crossfire 700 with over 4500 miles UNTOUCHED..

Just because one person has a problem, doesnt always mean everyone has problem..

I use to think yamahas were bullet proof, but those days are long gone..

THis is the first year ever, my sled has let me down,,, I cant finish out the rest of the year due to back ordered parts..

patience ;)! , you got to dial her in, once you do that to your riding style you won't let her go  , don't give up, you'll regret going back to the Doo

pilot skis with shaper bars and 13mm swaybar, drop it down till level....makes a huge difference...

I can ride my RTX faster thru twistys then any other sled ive owned....just get close to front of seat, lock in your feet under stirrups and this thing rails!

I could NEVER ride a 2 cylinder 2 smoker again....they shake, rattle and vibrate your hands so badly....and the smell gives me a headache...

you must realize, going back to a piston popping 2 stroke is going backwards....EVERY SLED will be 4 stroke probably within 5-7 years.....even DOO is coming out with their own 4 stroke next season....id wait for that if i was gonna buy a new sled....not another OLD SCHOOL 2 smoker....

sure the xp is a nice handling package..but IMO its just another THROW AWAY sled....honestly,you couldnt GIVE ME a 2 stroke snowmobile now that ive owned my RTX.

this isnt just PRO yammie....i think any 4 stroke is heads and tails better then 2 stroke....cause its not a throw away sled...IMO.

Dan
