Back to stock Airbox and Jetting  Loose a little bit of performance, but sled ran good all the time.

Clutching is good except for top speed run, my rpm drop a bit past 130 km/h

But the 162 x 16 x 2.5 was so much fun, acceleration is totally Extreme and the track get grip on everything, except on Birch Tree, to hard :ORC .

I found myself highmarking my buddy Summit 800 159 inch track with little effort. ;)!

I ran 19-40 gearing because i destroyed my 18 thoots gear and chain because my chaincase lost all is oil and chain ratcheted. :o|

But 19-40 seem to be just fine. i have a good ground speed and track speed, best combo.

That's good to hear Tundra!

I like mine too. I seem to have less vibration with this track than I did with the 159". I do seem to have a LITTLE vibration (harmonic) at 30 mph and below but, once I nail the throttle it's all but gone.

I went with 20 x 42 gearing because, that's what I had laying around. I was loosing some RPM up top in the deep stuff and maybe 19 x 42 would be better? Does anyone have a spare 19 tooth sprocket they aren't using? I'd be happy to buy it and try 19 x42 gearing.

Thanks for the update Tundra. Have a Merry Christmas.

I must tell you, i dont lost any RPM except when doing high speed run, i will try 44-36 Helix, i'm 44-40

Climbing in deep or anyplace no RPM lost or variation, straight up to 10100 and drop only when i let off and climb right back at 10100 when going WOT again.

And merry christmas and wish you a lot of snow. We are going to have a rainy christmas. :ORC

Tundra, that's funny I was at 10,100 at 5,000 to 6,000 foot elevation also but, I am still looking for 10,500 while climbing.

I plan to lighten up my Heavy Hitters even more by using more helix angle (via the Shockwave helix) to load the motor when I am the lower elevations. This will leave me more adjustablity while climbing based upon snow conditions.

I had the clutching dialed in perfectly for the 159" track by the end of last season. I was climbing at 10,500 to 10,700 in wet heavy snow but, this Extreme track just grips the snow harder eating more RPM. I will have to adapt once again.

am always 10000-10100 between 1000 and 3000 feet and 10200 at sea level hardpack, trail or deep.

I should give a try to 10500 by removing some weight on my 89L. Yeah, i will try it next week-end.

Tundra, if you are back to your stock airbox for now I'd just leave it alone. If I'm not mistaken, with the stock airbox your best RPM for maximum horsepower is 10,200.

It's only when you put on the ECP filters that your powerband moves up to 10,500 or so.

Hey Tundra,
where are you riding ,
and how high are you climbing when highmarking.

We live in Ontario and have gone to Revelstoke 4 years in a row and want to ride deep closer to home !

I'm riding in Saguenay, Quebec. we Ride between 1000-3000 feets.

Powerline and forest road.

We have 3 distinct area where snowfall are 20 feet more. February is the best month, snow level is about 7 feet in those area , all rock are almost under.

this track, is more and more awesome. But hard on the hardware, i bent both track tensionner today.

Still tuning the clutch. Load up to much on high end, 140 kph on speedo at 9000 RPM :-o need to get to RPM back , but climbing, its perfect, can't ask for more. Its a Wheelie monster (for a n/a sled) and a trenching machine :-o but unstoppable.

so all and the challenger was a good decision?? any rubbing hitting or issues with clearance? did you need to cut or shave anything additional??

i'm waiting for mine, bought the maverick and after 300 miles its ready to fall off!! can't wait, the maverick just seemed to spin and not really hook up. anyhow it's coming off

No issues at all. Just grind the 2 lips on the front cooler, and everything is fine.

Its the best money spend to date on my sled. Forget suspension, seat or rider forward, this track with clutching work is totally awesome. And trust me, she spin, but hook alot more than the maverick. Sled feel weird to control with that much track and rider forward, not easy as i would, but that will save you a lot of pulling and lifting.

That's good to hear Tundra!

Nice pictures!

I agree, the Extreme rules! We were riding in neck deep powder yesterday and there was really no comparrison in ability to get around between the two sleds with Extremes and two sleds with Mavericks, but I won't tell them because they think it's just their lack of riding ability. ;)!

Take care

Frosty
