itching to get in one last trip to quebec this season i called around last thursday and found the only good trails were north of quebec city. so we left massachusetts 4pm friday in a pretty good snowstorm.it took 2-1/2 hours to get to our dealership in new hampshire (normally a 1 hour ride)loaded up the sleds ,fueled up ,and grabbed a bite to eat and hit the road.very slow going 30-45 mph.11:30 pm 1/2 hour from the canadien border in vermont a 18 wheeler logging truck (these guy's are soft)passes us going about 60 hits us with so much snow we cant see for what seemed like a minute next thing we know were in the ditch.no damage but very stuck.a good guy in a f350 tried pulling us .no way.an hour later a tow truck shows up takes one look at us and says "im not even gona try to move you guys, ill call a different truck"a half hour later tow truck#2 shows up and yanks us out with a winch in 20 minutes.its now about 1:30 am still snowing like crazy .should we pull the plug? no, mabey it will let up soon i think we will drive thru it.4am still snowing we are falling asleep and pull into druminville qc still 150-200 miles from quebec city.we try to sleep in truck and get about 40 minutes sleep.we decide to find a hotel and see a sign for the hotel universal, on the way to the hotel the local police pull us over at about 5am wondering if we are stealing snowmobiles.after they figue out we are not thieves they tell us not to go to that hotel or our sleds, truck and trailer would probably get stolen.back to the hiway, now we are hitting intermitant white out conditions.cars rearending cars,a 18 wheeller rearended 2 cars,a car rear ended a 18 wheeler, another 18 wheeller was in the ditch with the trailer split in 2 and the cargo coming out and an upside down car or 2.we are coming into quebec city about 9-9:30am and see that the main bridge that crosses the st lawrence river into the city is closed due to the white out conditions.we go have breakfast and decide even if we could find a way over the river it would be to dangerous to ride in these conditions.oh well might as well go home. 2-3 hours of snwo drifts and whiteouts then things smoothened out.got home about 8pm saturday night and started the snowblower.GOD I LOVE THIS SPORT!

That is crazy! Glad you made it safe.

I can identify with that. I flew 9 hours from England to Minneapolis on 12 December to ride in the U.P. The day I flew over they had 20 inches on the ground in the morning, but it warmed up during the day and rained. :o| Talked with Buddah2 up near Munising and they still had snow on the forrest roads. So I drove 8 hours from Minneapolis to Munising on 13 Dec. They still had snow on the forrest roads, but really cold temps that night froze the snow solid so there was little cooling. Rode 4 miles done the trail before light came on and we bagged it, then rode 4 miles back to the trailer. Drove 8 hours back to Minneapolis and flew 9 hours back to England. :o|

you got me beat.
The sad thing is, I bet you had a good time on your trip right? Even though I only rode 8 miles, I got to spend time with Nos-Pro, Buddah2, and Yamadoc. That part was great.

Whilst I love riding, spending time with friends discussing the sport we love is pretty good too. The excitement of planning a trip to a new destination, the anticipation of trail conditions, the camaraderie of friends, makes this sport pretty special. I would like more miles next year though. ;)!

I was stuck in the same traffic coming back from the Cape to Whitefiled Fri. nite..

Bumper to bumper from 95 up rt. 3 til outside of Concord. The trip took 3 hrs. longer than usual 4ish...

Why didn't you stop at a motel in Colebrook,etc.. and ride? Riding wasn''t too bad up there..We went sun. and it was ok. Did 100 mi. up to Lake Francis .. alittle bumpy but not bad.

Mine isn't as bad as some, but I drove 6 1/2 hours from Iowa to Hurley, got there at 2:30 A.M., got up the next morning to a forcast of 55 degrees, rode for 3 hours with my wife ( her first time, so about 35 miles) trails got trashed, drove 6 1/2 hours home. I'd do it again, though!
