Some of the Ohlins Shocks are stiff valved. Did the GT feel to stiff in the stutters? I love the GT but dont want a stiff ride!

I've found out that the springs are pretty stout too.

I believe Tork and I found the GT to feel stiffer in the stutters than the RA Monoshock but some of the other guys told us we were smoking something not commercially available.

It was very close.

I agree also with the rear being a little more stiff than the stock mono-shock. Just didn't feel like it had enough dapening. The front GYT-R shocks on the front worked very well.

HeHe. Like the Muckwando Gold Steve was passing around :drink: , I thought the Ohlins were a bit harsh. Just kidding!!!!
They were a BIT stiffer as in a little, just noticeable.
Because I am 185 lbs I have a problem that most Yamahas are too stiffly sprung and valved for me. I purposely set the fronts full soft. I also set the handlebar control to full soft for compression on the rear. Then during my test ride I could not help thinking that it was not quite as comfortable as the 05 RX 1s I had ridden.
That said, it is possible that the valving was not final production calibration.
But taking no chances, I'll likely get an 06 but it wont be the GT mostly because of color and price and not so much because of the ride. The Apex ER will be fine for me.

I am nervous now about the GT, man I like that color and the looks, but????????? I'm 42 and dont want a snopro style suspension. I do weigh about 200 with out gear and when I rode the 05 Monoshock I thought it was slightly soft in the big bumps.

Oh, dont think snopro at all. It is just that they did not give you the adjustability on the soft side (actually we dont even know this because they are still tweaking before production). If you like the looks of the GT, dont let it stop you. I should have said that equally important in my decision for the APEX ER is that I personally dont like a black sled or tunnel.
I think you will get your GT to where you want with some spring height adjusting :D

Thanks for posting Tork, must have been great riding the new sleds, I'm jealous. My son son rides a F6 SP and it is way to stiff for my liking. You feel the GT is much softer than that sled? I presently ride a standard F7 and it is perfect for me in most trail conditions after I rebuilt shocks with heavier oil. If I by this sled I am going to have it for a while. :rocks:

I got very lucky with that test ride. I happened to be 30 minutes north and was a very last minute addition due to a spot opening up because most of the dealers test rode the day before. I was in awe of the rest of the group from TY. Really great guys.
I have ridden an F7 briefly. The monoshock in case you have not ridden an 05 is THE best bump absorbing skid on the planet. ALL of them are quite comfortable to say the least. I think that the ER may end up a tad softer, but unless you rode them back to back you would not notice one from the other.

What is your weight rr ??????????????

The ohlins mono should be re-valvable. But I've been wondering if it isn't because of the electronic compression. Anyone know for sure? If it is re-valvable, you can taylor the damping to your needs.

I go 215 plus gear and had the preload clip on my 05 moved up. I like the ride up to the 90% limit, but then I think it bottoms too easily. Which sled do I want? 8)

Im not worried about the shocks being stiff (thats why you buy an GT.. Adjustment)

IM more worried about the spring being too stiff..

In your case, you might want the GT. You could dial out the bottoming as conditions change right from the handlebar for the skid. And the front clickers are just a few second stop to do those.

You got the adjustable RA now. Cranking up the dial, you still bottom out??

Remember '02 Viper- that was suppose to be a big bump sled!! Hope we won't be needing a kidney belt for the Apex.
