So I installed Lake Effects riser on my 2011 Apex XTX today. BTW GREAT PRODUCT! I needed to run the throttle cable under the handle bar so I pulled the cable end out of the end of the lever and then slid the cable out the slot. The cable housing seemed stuck in the throttle housing but then with a tug it popped out. I then rerouted the cable in reinserted the cable into throttle housing and pushed it in as far as it went and it seemed to clip in. I then reinstalled cable end into throttle lever. My question is how much free play is there supposed to be in the throttle lever? It now seems sloppy and don’t remember it having that much play before I took it apart. There is a 1/4 inch of movement before the throttle lever starts pulling the cable.

I'm not an Apex guy but I think they are all the same. About 2mm. or a sixteenth of an inch. Make sure the cable is sliding freely, you don't want that sucker sticking.

There is a tiny retention clip for the throttle cable . Did you remove that or just tugged it out. Check that 1st and then check your free play.

I took the throttle switch apart and found the cable retention clip. It was slightly bent. I bent back to original shape and the cable seating feels correct now. The throttle cable end play is still 4 to 5 mm. I will have to adjust that this spring when I change oil. Thanks for the info Viper Dave and YukonMP.There is a tiny retention clip for the throttle cable . Did you remove that or just tugged it out. Check that 1st and then check your free play.
