I have a 19 Sidewinder LTX- DX, I have to hold the throttle slightly for machine to start. What is the adjustment process to take slack out of cable, or do I raise RPMs a little bit?

You don't want to take all the slack out of throttle cable or you could end up with sd84(tors)... if you need to make the adjustment it's on the handle bar riser and your looking for .030-.060 in. free play at throttle lever

My biggest problem right now is sled won’t idle unless I hold travel open a little. Not sure which way to go with adjustment.You don't want to take all the slack out of throttle cable or you could end up with sd84(tors)... if you need to make the adjustment it's on the handle bar riser and your looking for .030-.060 in. free play at throttle lever

Bring it to dealer for warranty. Mine was the same, they changed all kinds of stuff. It was running rich. I think it was the fuel return elbow.

Any update to this???? I went to fire my sled up yesterday (hasn't been started for 2 months and was cold) the idle is too low and would die. Had to hold throttle open a bit for it to start and run.
1. i need to adjust the throttle some way or another to achieve 1500 idle rpm
2. i dumped in some left over 110 octane fuel last spring and it was cold enough the sled wasn't happy with that gas.
-thoughts? Its going to warm up a lot now so i will try it again but thought id bring this post back up and see what you guys think

First off, the first sirup is always tough, the fuel is old, the valves are a little rusty, there's not a lot of oil on things and of course if you put race fuel in it that doesn't like to fire & lite off in the cold anyway.
If its old fuel I'd siphon it out of there and get fresh fuel in it. If you mess around to much with it trying to start it and get it to temp, you'll foul the plugs and need to change them. Get it fired up, let it warm and run it hard on the stand or in the field before you shut it down, if you don't, it could foul the plugs and put moisture into the oil and inside the engine.

(First start up) I started it once a month and let fun for 10 mins since last April. but skipped starting it just here in January. so this was the first COLD start, we have had sub zero temps the last couple weeks

2 nytros and another SW started and idled fine. My SW was the only issue, Ran fine but had to keep tension on the throttle
I bet fresh fuel, new plugs, and a good run will clear your issues.
I am not a fan of regular starting a sled in the off season. A short heat cycle builds condensation that idling for 10 mins will never get rid of. On initial startup and idle the fuel mixture is relatively rich that can and will soot up the plugs that won't clear without a proper heat cycle and some higher throttle operation.
We typically don't start and idle our boat motors, PWCs, motorcycles, aircraft, or stored vehicles ect in the off seasons...why has this common procedure with sleds become popular? I never got it.
