I do have an odd noise that seems to come from under the tank area. It is a tinking type of noise that is not rhythmic. It comes after I have ridden it for 5 minutes or when it gets warmed up. It is not coming from the engine as when I am stopped there is no noise. It sounds like metal tinking when hot metal starts to contract. I can hear it around the 30 mph speed for the last 500 miles or so. I have 3200 miles on the machine and the noise does not seem to be getting worse. Anyone ever heard something like this on their machine? I am new to this site. I appreciate all the discussion regarding the phazer. I really like the machine for what it is and can do. Thanks!

Probably the heat shields that cover the exhaust pipes under the tank. Pull off the fuel tank and have a look around to see if there are any problems. The heat shields have a know issue of breaking off the mounting ears, just welded mine up yesterday. Please fill out your location, it's a requirement of the forum.

You might want to check your exhaust clamps and doughnuts. The clamps back off as the doughnuts wear and can rattle.

It sounds like your exhaust donuts are shot and need to be replaced. Try looking inside your tunnel while your sled is idling to see if the clamps that secure the header pipes to the exhaust pipes are vibrating/turning around.

Search for "exhaust donut" replacement and you will see it's a common issue with all the four stroke Yammys.

Do not ignore this sound for too long...could end up being very costly if you do.
