ding round one in this corner we have......
come on guys take the sleds to the dealer granted they may not have a fix right away but 1,2,3 months from now yamaha may have a fix for your specific problem. It happens everyday in the automotive industry on new and older models.
so until all the MINOR problems get solved lets let them rip and make it a great season out of it.
oh and the whole 7 miles i have ridden mine i have noticed the water issue on the left side of the tunnel

Talking to your dealer doesn't count. Unless he registers an issue with your sled's serial #, yamaha won't have the volume numbers on any particular issue. If there are 3 of you riding the nytro and have grip issues, each has to take it in and not wait for one guy to take his in and see what the dealer does.
The sooner we get them in, the sooner it can be addressed. I'd like warm grips before January.
I took mine in yesterday.

My sled is stored in a 20' trailer 2 hrs from where I live and my Impala probably won’t pull it out of the back yard of my cottage through a foot of crusty snow-up hill so it’s not exactly that easy. The sled will be left with my dealer this Sunday morning before I head back home after the weekend. They said they will take a look at it. I’m assuming when I return after Xmas and the sled has sat outside for 3 weeks that they will say everything checked out fine but at least it will officially be logged I guess....psychosledder said:Talking to your dealer doesn't count. I feel your pain.
I was surprised they brought mine inside and left the cover on. Typically it gets tossed in the pen with no cover. That's probably where it was dumped when I left. Add to that the time and cost to deliver and pick up - ugh!

I can tend to agree that if the dealer drops the ball, your efforts to make problems known can look like bitching to your dealer. I can't say that I haven't complained to my dealer about very much, but they have fixed what I did need to have fixed. IMO, it may be of some help, (if you know your dealer well enough) to explain that you are a member here at TY, and what a resource it is. Also let them know that the site administartors do speak to Yamaha, and dealer feedback is the key to future design changes. I've gotten the "yeah, yeah," treatment from my dealer before, but I actually went online at theire store, and showed them the site, and I think they are embracing it somewhat.
I think it might be good to contact Yamaha as well, (Mr Sled stop me if I'm wrong here) but make sure you are as proffessional as you can be, and include pics of the issue(s), and politely note if your dealer has been notified, and if they were helpfull to your issues. (be careful here..)
I think if the letter is written politely and not in a complaining manner, it will go along way to helping to correct issues in future models.

I wish all of these threads were positive worse than anyone on TY. I also realize Yamaha wont be able to understand the magnitude of the problems unless the dealers have VIN's, details, etc. Im sure it seems that all of this griping hasnt solved anything, but Im so glad I didnt drop the $400 on a set of ski's now after reading other reports from here. I also would have never realized the wet foot was from the sled as well because on my first ride I also wore my brand new pair of boots so I assumed my feet were sweating.Tork said:When you are invited into someones house, how do you behave?
MrSled quite honestly looks at this place like a whole bunch of friends that he has invited into his family room for a nice chat.
TY didnt magically just appear, it was built with a lot of hard work, and a lot of dollars invested to get it off the ground. It is not your God given right to post whatever you want whenever you want. At the same time, if you post with class and respect, you can say practically anything you want.
MrSled does not work for Yamaha, didnt design or build the machines either....so give him a break....OK?
Notation of problems, especially the many bright people that solve problems, good conversations, posts that give people a laugh....he loves that. And thank you, the majority of members who do that kind of posting.

Im fine with PM's if the expectation is to keep all of these concerns quite and only post the positive.

I never said that, twisting things a tiny bit here arent you?
No problem is kept quiet, no, better way to put it is please name a problem that is kept quiet. You seem to be loud and clear in each of the problem threads.
You have problems and you are pissed, fine, I do feel sorry and understand.
At the same time, none of it is the fault of this forum, letting the site be a dumping grounds for your anger only goes so far.
....reading other reports from here. I also would have never realized the wet foot was from the sled as well because....
see this is what we are good at, keeping you informed. We are not good at reading redundant posting.

So Yamaha feels these problems like icing tunnels with a wet foot are isolated to individual sleds and not a design issue?
Thats means I got one with all of the problems I have ever read on here then like: wet foot, cold hands, scary/unsafe cornering, harsh ride yet bottoms easily.
I talked to my dealer and of course he has never heard of any of the above but he said if there is truley problems, Yamaha will address them. How many times do I have to haul mine in and how many other complaints have to be logged before any action is taken---is my beef.
Cornering is most likely a set-up issues along with the bottoming easily problem your having. I'm a big guy and can run right through rough section as fast as it goes and it bottoms no more than any other sled i've had. I have seen problems on here with the hand warmers and the wet boot thing but haven't experience either at this time.

I would like to say a couple thing regarding these issues..
1) The 2008 FX Nytro is a first model year sled! While the factory does a damn good job over all there will always be small issues that will need to be address on first model years... every time! Never seen a perfect first model year sled yet!
2) Having had each of our 4 FX Nytros tore down pretty darn far (sans engine) I can see directly where we can make improvement to our style of riding! I don't see anything that can't be addressed and nothing I feel I need to go back to the dealer and demand a change! To the best of my knowledge there still are no TSB or recall on the 2008 FX Nytros (can't say that about my wifes XP Tn'T not meant as a slam to BRP just a fact!)
The FX Nytro is a Great sled, Yes it needs a few tweaks here and there as any first model year would. (some may even be addressed on the 2009 FX Nytro models with help from doing as MrSled asked in the first post of this thread) We have been in direct contact with our dealer about MOST of the changes we have made. But again IMHO none of these issues I have seen on these threads are show stoppers! Each can and will be addressed quite possibly in more ways than one. We just need to put our ideas together and go try them.
There will be somethings we do to our sleds as we prepare then for the race that some of you may pick up on in pics I may decline to discuss them openly but come March we can be more liberal with our findings. This is a VERY sharp and informative group here on TotallYamaha and together using each other and the proper channels we can help Yamaha build a better sled for the upcoming years.
There ARE many eyes on these boards!

OK, all of you have good points to be made or heard, if it doesn't get back to yamaha then it will never be fixed. You need to take the problem to the dealer and if the dealer doesn't help you call customer service they will make sure the problem gets heard. I had a problem last year, did research on this great site took all the information to the dealer they didn't want to help so I called customer service and with in 2 days the dealer was fixing the problem under warranty. Yamaha will stand behind their product.
To mr.sled thank you for this site because of all the information on here I was able to find the information and have it in hand when dealing with the problem, I should state the problem was on an 05 rx1 and yamaha warrantied it, I bought it from a dealer with out a warranty.
