Just 600 miles on my sled. This is what I found under the hood. My sheave surfaces are now scratched and gouged. Never heard a thing, and it ran great on my last trip. I'm now 1 week past warranty, but it happened last weekend snowstorm. You think Yamaha will cover repairs?

depends on dealer

This is very uncommon but it will depend on your relationship with your dealer. Technically with so little miles it may be considered a manufacturers defect but it is a bushing (which is a wearable item) I guess all you can do is try.

!

If thats the bushing in your secondary, it could be caused from the cam slider shoes melting and throwing your clutch out of wack and spits out the bushing. This happened to me before on my srx, but the bushing just stayed on the jackshaft and cut out my jackshaft bearing. Wasn't pretty!

Red RX1 i hope you get a fix from your dealer, they should replace it cuz its a defect at just 600 miles,i've got 5250 miles and all i've lost yet was the jackshaft bearing,Good Luck

I have just over 1100 miles on mine and when doing my preseason I found that my Primary is ruined. Both sheaves have large ridges in them. The rest seems fine, one dealer told me that that could be caused by towing someone a long distance or by running the sled with the parking brake on...... Never towed anybody, and who the hell would run with the parking brake on and not know it??????? Anyways talked to the dealer I purchased it from and he said bring it in and they'll warranty it. I did buy the extended warranty in case there were any problems like this since the original one ran out before I even took it out of storage.

Grooved Primary

The grooves are caused by hard engagement. The 8dn belt slipping in the clutch. This is common with alot of drag racing and improper cloutching and belt clearance.

Thanks Buckeye... Improper clutching is what I think, I did do some racing but not enough to do the damage that these have......I raced my SRX a lot more with a lot more goodies on it and the clutch never had a problem. As far as my RX, I had the Bender kit installed and I let my dealer do it so I would have some leverage it there was a problem with the set up since it was a relatively new set-up when I got it last year. It ends up costing more but well worth it if there is any problems. I think that's why they already agreed to cover it under warranty. A good dealer has a lot of leway in how they present things to the MFG for warranty purposes. Mine has covered a few things over the years that could have gone either way.
