Too Much Lateral Play in rear Pivot Arm or Paranoid Owner?

I am in process of going through my sled because the season is done here.

I dropped my rear skid out yesterday and put it on the bench. While looking things over, I noticed that most all the nylon bushings in both pivot arms look good and appear to have been kept well lubed by the previous owner.

However, take a look at the video link below. I noticed a bit of axial (side to side) play in the rear pivot arm cross shafts. I am thinking I may pop these off and shim them to tighten things up. Is this type of play expected?

I know folks say the front A-Arms have axial play in them and thats normal.

There is no sign of radial play in any of the cross shafts, just axial.

Normal wear.... just think of the side force when your slidin your a$$ into a hard turn. there are internal shafts that are just a wee bit longer than the suspesion arms, and with the nylon bushings with a bit of wear.... this happens... if you wanted tho for peice of mind for the $100 bicks it would be to replace all your rear bushings.. and keep them greased.... they would last for years...

I have pretty much the same play. I am just under 6,000 miles. Owned since new and grease it every time out. If your stripping down the suspension. You may want to consider some power coating? Here's a link for you.

Actually, I contacted halfbaked coatings to request a quote for blasting and powder coat service.

I'd like to have that work done next month. The rear skid just looks f-ugly all full of surface rust. I think I want to do a glossy white to make it stand out a bit. It should make it look really nice.

I also took a closer look at the parts fiche, and there are no nylon bushings in either of the lower cross shafts on the rear arm assembly.

Those shafts just ride in their tubes with grease. I may add a couple of nylon washers to clean up the axial play just a bit.
