Hey guys looking for for pro's and con's and suggetions. I just purchased a 19 tooth for my 09 Nytro SE. Thats only 2 teeth down from factory. I love the low-end and the mid range. I hardly ever run wide open down the trail, and I know from dropping two teeth, I'm probably going to lose 10mph from the top end. I dropped two teeth on my viper and it ran great with my triple pipes. Just looking for suggetions, because looking at everything you have to take off,it's going to be a one shot deal.....

That is what I ran out west. You can still run stock chain.

I still saw 90 mph on my speedometer, at about 8000 feet elevation.

I'm also going to change my top gear to a 19 tooth.
My friend runs it on his MTX, and it works very well.

The only thing that is a bit tricky is to get the reverse "arm" correct when mounting it together again. But there are several good guides on this forum for that.

What is stock gearing on the RTX? Is it the same for all 08-10 models ?

thats a tight bend...you can do it but it loses a efficiency etc

Id explore the lower gear even though its more costly

Did replace the gear yourself? If so any problems I should be aware of?

Its pretty straight forward, just remember how you took it apart, and put it back together the same way.

Getting the reverse back together was the worst part, but it isn't too bad if you take your time.

I printed off a couple of pages showing how the whole chaincase went together, so I could make sure i was putting it together correctly. It helped.

Taking digital pictures as you go is easier than remembering things.

I considered adding that little detail about remembering to take the pictures.

What do you mean with" that its a tight bend"?

I dont understand.

Thanks..

that means when u adjust the chain ( the chain adjuster bolt ) the chain will bend alot more than it was stock so if u change the top & bottom it will b more like stock form

I think what he really meens is that gear has a very tight radius and that its a sharp bend for that chain to go around.

hence, which makes it less efficient, which may result in a loss of top speed.
