A few things I found after working on rtx today. First the bolts holding the coils on the plugs was blue locktited I don't know if this could be a problem after many heat cycles but I was told to pull the bolts and clean them. Second was the antifreeze it pegged the tester I didn't have any 100 % to compare to but 50/50 was-34 I may dillute it for better ooling with water wetter.Third one throttle body air box rubber boot was folded under by whoever put it together.Fourth put in the 6# battery used this last year never had a problem starting temps to-20. Fith it looks like the torque arm I used on last years RX-1 will go on in almost the same location. Didn't have to many problems thanks to Alan Ulmer! Hope I don't have to tear it apart on the trail in really cold weather! :rocks:

I should of said it's a battery for a Honda 600 motorcycle, the weight is 6lbs the stock one is 14 lbs, :4STroke: cheepest weight savings you' probably see.

Yamaha is trying every trick they can, and using expensive metals to save a few pounds. Weight has been the main complaint about these machines. Are they that dumb, that they've never thought of using a lighter battery?

the battery is lighter this year compared to last on the hi perf models, but they still wanted enough of a reserve to start these machines in extreme cold weather,i think a smaller battery would have been ok but they left a little overkill there to keep the non start complaints to a minimum, the rs models use the ytx20-bs battery and the apex/attak models use the ytx14-bs battery which is 25mm narrower with the same height and thickness so its a fw pounds lighter, yamaha has used their heads, even the oil filter is 5 mm shorter to save weight(and clear steering components) but weight savings is weight saving huh

If the filter is 5mm shorter I wonder if it is the same as the RS Vector?
