This is how I did mine,
In the wire connection cluster that goes up to the handle bars, under the gauge panel, and in the rubber boot. There are only two single wire plugs. One is white and the other is black. That is the color of the Plug, NOT the wire. Disconnect those two. And plug them into each other. The one coming from the wire harness/engine get plugged into them selves and the same for the wires going to the handle bars. Just remember they are the only two single wire connectors is the whole cluster.
Hope this helps, I know in the manuel they tell you how to do this but they do not give the best discription.
