i took my 2005 rx warrior to a mechanic to go over as i wanted to make sure it was in top condition and i am not all that familiar with sleds. i did ride pretty hard friday night and remember hitting a rock that was burried in the snow.
today, the mechanic found a 4inch rip in my track and a bend at the front of the rail that the hyfax attaches to. he quoted 1800 for new ice ripper track and new rail installed w new bushings. thats a lot of money that i wasn't planning on spending. the mechanic is a good friend of my buddy. he doesn't think ill have much luck finding a used rail. what do you all think? suggestions about where to look?
as far as the track goes, there is a store nearby with lots of used tracks so im thinking of going that route. what are the dimensions of the stock track? i know its 136" long but what should i look for in terms of lug height, width, and clipping?
i would like to make some quick moves if possible to get going again within one or two weeks.
ill post some pics soon

another question...
i've found rails cheaper than the mechanic can get them. he said i needed to replace a drive bearing and bushings as part of the whole process. is that true?

peel the hyfax off. rail might still be ok under it. track, you need a 2.52 pitch for the drivers, 15" wide and 136" in legnth. there might be a site member selling a take off one but you could order one from tracks usa or ritch motorsports. i would go fully clipped ice ripper as it is almost as good as studs. if you plan on studding it later, then i would go ripsawII fully clipped as it is only a little more expensive than a ripsaw.

since your track is studded, you must replace it or it would probably shred your front heat exchanger. The rail can most likely be fixed if you tear down the skid. $1800 is insane, you can upgrade to much better skid for that kind of money. Can you wrench yourself? Have any buddies in th earea that could help, or even fellow TY'ers?

Indy, how might the rail be fixed? gentle persuasion? i'm willing to work on it. just haven't done much sled work before and have no real idea how to drop the skid and get the rail off to work on it. 1800 was for new track, new rail, new bushings, new drive bearing all installed, just to be clear. still high?

gentle persuasion? Yep, what do you have to loose? I had not done it either, until I did it. Granted, I do most of my own wrenching. Many fellow TY'ers on here sell salvage parts. fourstrokelover87 bethviper to name a couple. Would be a great time to replace all bushings and bearings on the skid. Most instructions are on the tyhome link on the top of every page. Used tracks are a couple of hundred, replacement skid a few hundred. Bearings etc. 150.
this would rock in your sled;

i'm convinced. ill go ahead and do it myself. can anyone point me to the bearings/bushings etc that i will need?
also, does laterality of the rail matter? they all have the same part number and don't specify L or R
