Has anyone else notice the excessive track noise while riding there RS Venture. I had previously ridden a two stroker and one of the reasons for purchasing a four stroke was to enjoy a little quieter ride. Well that hasn't happened, the smell is gone the engine noise is gone but the track noise I think is louder than the two stroke engine noise that I use to listen to.
Oh by the way just in case anyone is still looking for MPG on the sleds I got 18 mpg on my first ride I thought that wasn't bad at all.

I pretty sure it's not any louder.......it's just the fact that the engine is so quiet now.

I also think the track noise on the RS Venture is excessive, especially between 40 and 60 Mph. I've had six different year Polaris touring sleds the last one was an 03 800touring and after the recall for the rear wheel kit it was pretty quiet at speed when you had the throttle in the sweet spot

On my 03 RX i went to the ripsaw from the weak tit and the ripsaw was definatly louder but well worth it. You will hear it more in softer cond's where the lug's can penetrate. kviper

studded?
Yamahopper, is your Venture studded? I agree that the track is very loud, but I figured it was those silly hard plastic wheels rolling over the stud heads where my last sled had rubberized wheels.

plastic
Yeah, the large inside wheels are hard plastic. A couple TY members are complaining that theirs are deforming or chunking on the stud heads.
Hey, Gnip...did you make it to tip up last weekend?

I took the stock plastic front wheels off my vector and replaced them with the red wheels that are rubber.. Mine is verrrrrrrrrrrry quiet.. At 40 all I hear is the wind noise around my helmet.. MM.

It not because of the quiet engine, the track noise is just to loud. Many 2-stroke engines are not that loud. In fact the new Ski-Doo Rev's motor makes less noise than our 4-strokes. One reason that I went to the 4-stroke was for less noise when compared to my old F-7, however, my Vector is much louder overall because of the track noise.

I agree the Venture track noise is horendous I have been complaining about that from the first day .It is the only thing that I don't like .I have been told it is because it is a closed window track . I personaly think it is because the lugs are so deep . It gets really quiet in deep snow . By the way my buddy has a Rev and he is also complaining about track noise .

Some time when you are going down a plowed road move over to the side where there is some snow depth and back where there is no snow and you will notice the sound you are refering to come in on the snow and go on the hard surface. If it were the wheel's it would likley be there all the time. It also disaperes in deeper powder i supose because the snow is not packed and has less mass. So i would say it is from the deeper lug. If you ever go to a snow cross race when they are running in looser condition's they will run 1.5 or so lug track's and you will hear the same sound very clearly. kviper
