Track tightness

I was out yesterday and will be again today, the snow conditions here are the worst I have seen in a wile. We recently had a bunch of freezing rain, and its -20c now. One needs ice scratchers for sure.

yox85 HAS IT RIGHT. 22 POUNDS, AS SHOWN IN THE MANUAL IS WAY TOO TIGHT.

Sadly, I followed Fast's advice on my track tension--- way too tight. First ride, about a mile from the house I stopped and could smell hot plastic. Had to give it hell to go again, and found out what a burning belt smells like also, because the track apparently was adhered to the skid.

So if the 22lb and 1" it says in the manual is incorrect and too tight. What is a good starting point that we should start at, As in how much should the track be sagging from the sliders and at what weight of pull?

Zero weight pull, let it hang about an inch to an inch and a half. It should not ratchet at that tension but if it does tighten adjusters 1/4 turn.
