Traction on trailer

I got this square plastic stock at Menards.

Lawmanbsi,

I have to say at first I was confused by the blocks in your trailer, but after staring at it for a few minutes it dawned on me. Are they to raise the rear tunnel up enough to allow the ski-tip to go further under the sled in front? I know that was always the limiter when trying to pull sleds in all in one direction, even with the 7.5 width.

Hay what do you guys do for the skis to get up on the trailer door when loading. I bought 4 black uhmw flaps that were designed to aid in loading. Unfortunately the carbides hit the hinges. Would love some better ideas and or pics.

find an old box liner. I got pieces cut 8 inch wide. I was worried about the carbides but no problems works perfect!

If you use the guides, even the low profile ones, and depending on the hinge type, you should be able to clear the hinge. I have a ply-wood flap that is mounted to a piano hinge. I put the guides on the ramp and the flap, so that the hinge is recessed below the surface of the guides. Yeah there are a few dings and scratches in the hinge, but it's more in the stud area than the ski area.

I have a neighbour who runs a conveyor belt business so I asked him for some scraps and he gave me about 30 feet of conveyor belt- I use it on the trailer and in the garage.

That is what I use in my truck, not sure if you remember it at the TY ride in Ontario last season. The rest I use to protect the garage floor and the driveway until the sled gets onto the grass.

I'm sorry I was taking about the flap from the door to the ground. When I purchased the trailer it came with the 1/2" plywood flap with piano hinge. It ended up cracking the first season. So I decided to up grade to something better. Was thinking 3/4" plywood but then found these new small uhmw flaps on hinges and thuoght it was perfect. But nope! Any ideas on this. Thanks

If you can get a single strip of UHMW but at least the thickness of the ply that should be durable enough, what thickness was the stuff you tried? Maybe, a strip of the treks decking.
