Trail "Report" - Breakdowns

Thanks for the knock on wood. The Arctic Cat that crashed came around the corner in my lane, both of us doing about 50. He had no time to correct. I slammed the brakes and he cut across me into the woods and hit the tree. Green F8, maybe he missed the steering recall? He had enough brake by the time he hit and was ok, smashed cover and bent arms. We let him have it, could have killed us both. His buds dragged him home.

As far as age, you don't travel deep into these mountains on old tired machines or if its late and you have to walk out, you'll die. The broken down sleds all appeared to be 5 years old or under...except for one of the Polaris which was probably a 99/00 500 fan. I've never seen this many dead sleds in 3 trips ever, very strange. Keep the belts and gas fresh I guess and happy tzrails.

An 05 Mach Z was the last sled I owned prior to switching to an Attak in 07. That Doo gave me headaches every other trip!

The last 6 years have been break-down free. Not even a trail side belt change!

I did have to jump start the SE one morning last week though. A family member riding it the night before left the key and kill switch on all night. :o|

:) Got to remember that half of the sleds out there are Ski Doo's so more sleds = more breakdowns. I agree that the Yamaha's are more reliable but I have had 3 Ski Doos and only broke down once. I had an 04 Venture 700 that burned down 3 times which got me on 4 strokes. (MXZ 1200 and an Apex)

I am a pretty loyal yamaha fan........and I would say I have had better than good luck with all my Yamaha since the very beginning.........

BUT, just a couple weeks ago I had to run beside my son for over a mile when my wife's 2007 phazer melted a wiring harness and left me on foot to get back the truck.......... GLAD I wasn't 50 miles in the back country! Also a good thing my son's mini-z couldn't tow it out, or that might have been embarrasing.

It all happens to the best of us! With that said, even though the sled is a 2007 with over 5000 miles on it, Yamaha covered it under warranty and even checked my ball joints AND WARRANTIED THEM TOO!!!! That sled is 5 years out of warranty!
