Trail Tank
I am very interested in one of these tanks as well, although I will not purchase one unless they fix the fit n finish on the top. It just looks ugly! I was told by my dealer that Yamaha have sent an XTX to Trail Tank to work on this issue. I am not sure if this is true or not & my dealer has said he has not heard any news yet? Equally interested to hear feedback on quality ect...

Basically if you want the most practical option to carry extra gas you are going to have to lower your fit and finish expectations. Unless Yamaha comes out with a factory 10 gallon tank ( and that doesn't look promising), the trail tank is the best option we have. Is it perfect? No. Does it work? Yes.
If a guy spends a little time trimming the factory shrouds, it will look pretty close to factory. I chose not to modify any of my shrouds and just live with the "look" because I can change back to stock if I sell the sell the sled and get a new Nytro.

Been riding with the trailtank setup for approx 200km. Fit is as good as you can make it keeping the stock look and ergos of the sled. The fuelmeter shows full longer and the extra gas gives me peace of mind in the deep, even with MCX turbo. This is what yamaha should have given us stock. There is no better way to carry extra gas than this. An extra bonus is that seth is 1000% behind his produkt. Trailtank is the s#¤t for the stockers and for the boosted Nytros. imho.

Thanks for the feedback guy's! Perhaps my expectations will lower the closer to the snow flying here. We still have some time to see if they are doing anything to improve this lack of fit n finish. I agree that the peace of mind to have the extra gas will outwiegh the look in the end. Just hoping they solve this so there will be no swithching back to the stock tank if one decides to sell the sled at a later date.

The only thing turning me off is the finish and the lack of dzus fasteners. Thumbscrews just don't cut it for me.

He had a post on here some time last winter addressing the Dzus fasteners. As I recall, it is far more difficult to cast the dzus fasteners into the tank as compared to the threaded type.

I ordered a black tank from seth this morning. ale price plus you get the heat shield, and new o-rings and thumb screws. Couldnt pas it up, as akrider stated........you cant have it all and I would rather have a large fuel range and a tunnel thats free of gas cans or tour buddy's anyday. I think for seth toimprove the fit and finish the tank would have to be smaller than it is and probaly wouldnt yield enough extra capacity to justify the price. I plan on trimming the plastic a bit or simply adding a deluxe tank bag or maybe nothing at all, knowing that I can go well over a 100 miles riding hard is whats important to me. Just my .02!

^^^^^^+1 except i ordered the clear tank from seth.
same reason i ordered mine. to go further and stay out longer without having to refuel. with me pushing 2.25" of paddles 153" long, that extra 3 gallons is going to give me a big peace of mind when boondocking.
the fit and finish is what you make of it. you can trim, and fab and make thing work "better" if need be. so you have to use thumb screws instead of dzus fasteners, it's still quick and painless. and it's the best looking and functional option out there, in my opinion.

Ordered one as well. Just want the increased range. I bought a 4-stroke so I wouldn't be the 1st. one always looking for gas........

I personally don't care how pretty it looks, I just want the added range. Mine should be here in a couple weeks.

Just order 2
Will have two of them coming for the Iron Dog. Will be nice to have weight centered where it should be, the extra range, and only one fill point.
Seth makes a great product, very functional and not bad looking in my book.
This tank is a must, will allow you to go there and back and possibly save on those remote fuel prices. Could very well pay for itself in a season or less.

Make sure that you are OK with the separation between the new tank clearence and high temperatures emmiting from exhaust. Tour Buddy may be an option that would work for more range.
