Is it true that once you put the 10 gallon trail tank on you can't change the spark plugs without taking off the tank?

how often do you plan on changing the spark plugs?

yes it is true, you would have to pull the tank to get to the plugs. it is all of pulling off the hood, seat, two bolts holding the tank, and the wiring and fuel pump hose and you have better access than the stock tank.
you guys make it out like it is brain surgery to take this stuff off and put it back on. ski

Not brain surgery, but when your in the backwoods and all of a sudden the sled fouls a plug then what? I owned a 06 Attak and it had 12,000 miles on it, fouled 3 plugs all different cylinders. Now I own a 08 Apex LTX 40th and have not had a problem in 3,500 miles. It could happen and when it does hopefully your mechanically inclined or MacIver so you can nurse her home.
I was just checking on the larger tank because I do a lot of off trail riding/backwoods riding and need a little more fuel.
Anyone have any issues with their 08 Nytro's fouling plugs?

I;m sure they rarely foul plugs, but It'd be MY LUCK that it would on a -20F day on a ride by myself in the middle of nowhere. I'd rather be able to change them without taking any more than necessary off.
Used to ride with a guy that had a carb Rage and the thing was likely to fould all three plugs on the first start of the season. My injected Nytro has not even sputtered yet, but only been on it for one season. For me coming off a REV that was always the first to need gas, and now a Nytro that is always the first to need gas, the trail tank is the way to go,,,,, IMHO

Guess you should have all the tools in your kit to remove the tank if you foul a plug. Personally never fouled or seen a fouled plug on a genesis 4 stroke myself.

Why would a sled foul a plug any more often than a bike?? Never fouled one on the R1, change them every 10,000 miles, and they still look like new. I imagine if you get some crap gas out in the boondocks it might happen, but I wouldn't know where to look on the Nytro to change a plug anyway!! Wig

WHo carries spare plugs anyways???? heck I don't know where you could carry spares on the Nytro anayways

only 420 miles, but not as much as a sputter with mine...and I have the larger tank...only do VERY hard back country mountain riding, where I am WOT most of the day in deep powder...and the least fuel in the tank when I get home is 3 bars on the fuel gauge...
Our mileage would be nothing compared to what you guys do, but the use of fuel shoudl be very similar to an extreme all day ride for you guys...get the trail tank, you will not be sorry...
