So far I haven't had any problems. The heads are not that big but I guess it's possible for something to catch. I don't wear anything that can catch but my heated shield cord does catch once in a while on the fuel cap.

I Installed snap fasteners to replace the Trail Tank thumb screws a couple of seasons ago: http://www.ty4stroke.com/viewtopic.php?t=90341 . The snaps held up well but I decided to try one more option...........

I am working on my 08' Nytro project finally this summer and currently I am installing a Trail Tank. Found this thread and fastener option by Grizz which I think looks sweet! However, I am running side flares on my windshield so I think I would need a longer ball stud for the lower flare mount to the hood. Hoping #999170 ball stud below will do the trick? Also notice that the two ball studs are currently on sale Sailrite. It also seems that they do not sell the pull up fastener and the mounting ring separate any more. When I type in the #999100 and #999110 part numbers the web site pulls up the #300078 part number which looks to include both? I need to call them as it seems they only sell them in pack of 5? Not sure. G.B.

I had one of the original trail tanks on my 2008 Nytro, which was before they came out with the version using dzus fastners. I had tried this option from Grizz and it looked great. But I had a fastener or two that would always wiggle loose. I also tried snaps, and I tried doing a hood-pin style with a clip. At the end of the day, I went back to using the original thumb screws. They looked good, always worked, and since I rarely needed to remove my hood using the thumb screws ended up not being that big of a deal.I am working on my 08' Nytro project finally this summer and currently I am installing a Trail Tank. Thanks Turtle for your input. I just called Sailrite and they are now only selling the Pull Up Fasteners in pack of 5. So as cool as this mod is I am not sure I want to spend $60 plus on hood fasteners right now. I think that I will start with the thumb screws and see how it goes. Thx.
