Seems to be an issue every time I open my fuel cap where I get a big suction as the fuel level gets lower. I'm guessing I may have forgotten something installing the tank or my gas cap is faulty. Has anyone encountered this?

Is your breather (vent) hose connected at the back of the tank. I had that problem because it popped off.

The vent fitting must be plugged, it's a threaded fitting you can take out. I changed to a brass one because the plastic one is kind of flimsy.

Or you may have pinched the vent line installing the trail tank.
trail tank
This is what I did when I installed the trail tank. It looks like it is not pinched but I straightened it out a bit and no further problems.
