Has anyone determined the total useable fuel on a Trail Tank? My fuel light came on and it only took 6.7 gallons. The tank appeared to be pretty empty... does it hold a lot more gas lower in tank than stock?

Usually when my light comes on I have about 3 gal left.

Not sure on the exact amount of fuel left when the light comes on but I know when the light does come on you can go roughly 40 km if you drive reasonable on a groomed trail.
When I had my Nytro with the trail tank, with a full tank I went 157km, light came on and I did another 38 km before the sled ran out of fuel and died, luckily my buddy had fuel and I was only 5 km from the next fuel stop. After the light came on I really babied the sled cause I knew I wouldn’t make it the the next gas station.
I don’t see how some guys say they are getting 220km + on the Nytro with the trail tank.

Snow conditions, air temp and throttle use have a ton to do with it. I often would get 200 out of a tank before filling and still had fuel left.
Keeping track of mileage I would average at least 6km per litre. If you are doing speed runs and hammering the throttle to the bar forget about what I just said. lol.

Thanks guys. The 3 gallons left when the light comes on makes sense with what I am seeing but the tank sounds really empty when filling it at that point. Just makes me nervous having the light on and theoretically having 3 gallons left.

I adjusted the fuel sensor float arm so that the light comes on with a little over 2-1/4 gal remaining. I'm estimating the tank to be empty with 1/4 gal remaining so I have 2 gallons of usable fuel when the light comes on which gives me an approximate range of 30 miles before running out of fuel.

I have a clear trail tank and my first fill up with it, I made a little mark where 5 gallons was with a pencil. Usually gas light comes on when its an inch below the pencil mark. Still has probably 3.5-4 gallons I figure.

I think I have seen 135 (13.5mpg) miles (217km) max out of my trail tank then had 1.2 gallon spare jug to get to gas station. This was being gentle on flipper. When I don't care, get about 100 miles per tank (10mpg) w some spare gas inside (and a big smile on face). Not sure on the exact amount of fuel left when the light comes on but I know when the light does come on you can go roughly 40 km if you drive reasonable on a groomed trail.

Do you happen to have a picture of where your 5 gallon mark is???I have a clear trail tank and my first fill up with it, I made a little mark where 5 gallons was with a pencil. Usually gas light comes on when its an inch below the pencil mark. Still has probably 3.5-4 gallons I figure.
