Trailtank , now with oem fasteners !

I had changed out the thumb screws to button snaps...held up very well. Search for Grizztracks mod on this.

I was looking at purchasing a Trail Tank but I read a lot of complaints of Fit and Finish. I'll probably wait till I hear some reviews of the redesign but It will be on my list of future mods now.

I got my trail tank in fall of 2008....no issues....its NOT Yamaha Quality...but its better that CAT Quality fit...

those thumb screws on that tank suck #*$&@ lost all but 2 of them b/c the shitty white plastic holding them comes off drop and don't know it and there gone .

Replace the lost white plastic ones with a small square of clear plastic off of blister wrap packaging. Poke a hole through it and thread it on the same direction as you poked it. Works great. ;)! My tt fits good enough.

LM7800 I have those and mine do not hold at all. Maybe I got a bad batch

The pull it up fasteners work great but they need to be installed properly. Because the holes in the hood need to be enlarged in order to install the pull it up fasteners or the snap fasteners it allows for some fine adjustments for a better fit. If you install the hood without the fasteners and recenter the holes in the hood to match the tank then the sockets will align with the posts much better when installing the new fastener. Also reforming the plastic with a little heat will help align the fasteners. I also had to take a little off of the nose of the hood to get it to slide back farther.

I still use snaps for the lower side panels so my leg doesn't hit the fasteners.

+1
Some of mine held ok but most let go with minimal or no up force. The difference between the good and bad ones appeared to be the location of the internal brass "fingers" relative to the bottom edge of the fastener. The variance from piece to piece was pretty bad. I tossed em. Loved the idea though! (Grizz, you do some really cool stuff!)
