Has any one had the jam nut on the transfer rod come loose???.Mine did on my 06 apex gt ,it backed right off and fell apart. It turned over backwards and cut a slice in the middle of the track and destroyed the transfer rod assembly.Called my dealer and had rep look at it and he said 05 had this problem but fixed for 06.Ya right!!! Because of dealer they will warranty transfer rod but not the track because of studs !!! { Not a happy camper} .Any one else have this problem!!!.

Happend to me the first time out last year. Dealer replaced the transfer rod, but I caught the problem before it destroyed the track so I only had light damage. I installed the new rod myself and it has been fine for 2500 miles.

Thanks for the reply guys. I am sure that there must be more than 3 with this problem.I would like more feedback if possible before i give yamaha a piece of my mine!!! Thanks in advance.

I've seen two break but neither wrecked the track.

It happend to me some where around the 300 mile mark ('06 RTX). The rod was shot but the track is ok. Dealer took one off a sled on the showroom floor, instant fix under warranty.

Have 400 miles on since i cut the track looks like it"s going to hold together 128 on the DM today on hard pack road.Drove over very rough ice lumps and pushed 3 studs through track, was only crawling along when this happened ???

I had this happen to me last month on my 06 rtx. Luckily I got the extended warranty and everything was covered under it so I was very happy.

Just had it happen this weekend.
We did a 1000 kms this weekend north of Mont Laurier and first of all the best trails I have EVER ridden. Anyways the transfer rod unthreaded and with two seperate pieces floating around for approx 200kms it gouged the center of the tracks REAL nicely. Anyways I now need a transfer rod, if anyone knows where I can get one cheap please let me know at lalondere@sympatico.ca.

Had this exact thing happen to me in January. Dealer is asking Yamaha for warranty. Hope it goes through. I think most of the problem is with the poor quality spanner wrench Yamaha expects us to tighten the adjuster with. Nothing but a knuckle scratcher and is impossible to get tight enough.

You need to file the tooth on the spanner wrench sharper. It works great now.
