OK, i have my new Apex LTX GT 2009. I will put on Arrow skis on next week, but as of now, it pushes a lot in corners, not much bite. When i bend down and look at my transfer strap, it is a little loose when the sled is on the garage floor with nobody sitting on it. The sled is from the dealer with original settings. Transfer rod is about at 50%... and all preloads on the shocks about 50% also... Are you guys tightening the straps a lot?? ( it wont be darting with the Arrow Skis..)..
Thanks for input..

1st of all whats your RIDING weight meaning with gear, boots , helmet, I pulled or shorten my limiter strap by 1 hole your transfer should be fine, 1 guy thats really good in setting up your suspension is Robert Verroneu from STAR SUSPENSION from Coaticook, he shimmed my front shocks and re-valved them and what a difference in handling give him a call here's the link...
Good luck

I'm 185 lbs plus gear so about 200 lbs with gear.... but i like smooth suspension, not stiff..
I'll check out your lead, thanks..
AND if you have any other rebuilds to do on shocks... Mike at Factory Connection in Drummondville rescusitated my shocks on my Dragon switchback.. That guy also is a renowned shock rebuilder...

But since I got the GT, with Ohlins, they are pretty good... just settup i think..

This seems like a good thread to pose some questions. I have 2 07 Apex Gt's. I know absolutely nothing about tuning the suspension to get the "feel" I want, heck, I don't even know what feel I want! But, we ride groomed trails exclusively. I notice with fresh snow on the trails the #*$&@-end gets alittle "washy", IOW, it gets squirrely. What we want is a soft ride yet want it to track better than it does now. Do I want more weight on the skis? Less? More on the front of the track? Less? I have no clue how adjusting the different mechanisms affect the ride. I've always got good advice here before so here I am again! Thanks, MarkRash said:I'm 185 lbs plus gear so about 200 lbs with gear.... but i like smooth suspension, not stiff..

It seems you don't have enough pressure on your track. Try increasing the transfert trough your transfert rod.. PS.. you dealer should be able to help you and do the adjustments if you tell him your problem..
You have to read this:

Up/more preload on your rear suspension SPRING by 2 settings this will lighten the front and make it more stable...

Thanks! I printed that and will take it outside and get busy. Only way to find out how something works is to have at it! If U understand u though, it appears I have too much pressure on the front of the track and too little on the rear?Rash said:It seems you don't have enough pressure on your track. Problem with the ohlins adjustment instructions, it's for conventional suspension with central and rear shock... wich the Apex does not have... I'm still trying to get info on the monoshock rear suspension... Does anyone know if there is info in the shop manuel??

I was kinda wondering about that. I only have one shock on the chassis and soem kind of adjustable rod behinf that. Anyhow, what I did was drag out the bathroom scale (hope the little woman doesn't notice) and took some measurements. I shimmed all other points to equal height of the scale so as not to throw off the numbers and heres what I came up with: Front ski-160 pounds. Front of track under front idler wheel-110 pounds. Rear of track just ahead of rear idler wheel-95 pounds. Now these numbers aren't accurate but the ratios should be. Do I need more weight at the rear of the track and if so whats the simplest way to do it? Thanks again!Rash said:Problem with the ohlins adjustment instructions, it's for conventional suspension with central and rear shock... wich the Apex does not have... OK' you got too much pressure on your skis and not enough on the back... but un motion, the back pressure increases as the transfer rod is adjusted to more tranfer, and there is more wheigt on track during acceleration..

Ok, now what do I do? Lengthen the transfer rod or shorten it. Do I tighten or loosen the limiter strap? Which one puts more weight on the rear of the track and which one puts more weight on the entire track. So many questions, so little time! What about reducing the preload on the skis instead?Rash said:OK' you got too much pressure on your skis and not enough on the back... but un motion, the back pressure increases as the transfer rod is adjusted to more tranfer, and there is more wheigt on track during acceleration..
