Tuner skis

I am swapping the mountain skis on my Apex to a set of Yamaha Tuner skis..Do I need to save the washers on the side of the skis and do I use the stock nut and bolt...Also how much crabide should I use? 136X1.5 NON studded track...Guy at local Yamaha shop says 2" on both runners is plenty...

is your sled a eps, or pre-2011? If you have eps, you can put on all the carbide you want and not know the difference. I put 2-6" on my eps sleds and they handle like a dream.

go with 6in on both always. the insides get the most wear, you can swap ski sides later and have a newer edge. If you find your skis turn harder than you want, you can shim the fronts down a bit, that is the beauty of the ski, you can make it turn as easy or as hard as you want with little effect on darting. they just go straight.
they like neutral setting or a bit to the rear. unlike single carbide skis that want alot more rear pressure.

If you front end is sloppy, you will want to run a little more rear pressure to keep the ski from wandering.

If you go to your dealer, they will open up a book with a tuner ski chart that lists the different Yamaha snowmobiles compatible with the new ski. Once you choose the APEX, the chart is further broken down (if I remember right) to driving style such as normal, aggressive etc. I believe the proper carbide selection was 4 and 0 for normal driving. I spoke with 2 mechanics and he said if you are not running picks, 6 is way way too much. He gave a lot of reasons why but I just can't remember them all. If this web link works, turn to page 44.
