Holly Cow mewaschuk were you riding in water and slush all the time?? Pretty crazzy looking.
Mine is about the same as your after pic with no block off plate but I have the tunnel protectors removed. Thought that was even to much ice though..

Is there a risk of your seat melting if you block off the opening to the exhaust?

NO problems with that. But you could have a heated seat to keep you bum nice and toasty while riding.

That was 1 day of trail riding in Maine, temps around 32°F. No water holes.

I blocked mine off on my race sled we melted the rear seat and melted the mount right off. We also melted the rear plastic... Although we blocked the complete under tunnel off.

Articat uses a rear heat exchanger (on some of their sleds) built right into their tunnel guards, talk about the cat's pajamas!
I've yet to block off my tunnel, but it sure is a constant pain in the #*$&@ knocking off ice everytime I stop to see how much ice I'm carrying...
Good thing I carry the yamaha sst (special service tool aka ice chipper) with me!

I borrowed Grizztracks design and made my own for a 2011 Nytro XTX. Everything worked great but I have to shorten it slightly to 32" and grind a notch for the y-pipe. Off for a 3 day/ 600 mile trip. Hope I don't have any issues - I sure would have liked to have had a chance to test it before leaving. Hope it lip does not hurt my track or heat does not become an issue. Will be a long way from home
