If it is fastened firm, you wont have any issues. Since it is recessed, your studs wont get into it.
Looks good. I had to take mine out to get the exhaust collector pipe out 3 weeks ago. Keep that in the back of your head if a similar issue comes up.

did the Grizztracks plate for about $11.00 myself three years ago. I have about 3,000 miles on it now and have never had an icing issue and it is holding up very well.

OK, so I'm about to get going on making a block-off, and since I have no access to my sled to measure it, or a brake to bend it, I'm going to call a metal place to have a piece of aluminum cut and bent.
What gauge are people using, and did anyone measure where the bends go?

I went with the Schmidt Brothers plate, fit perfect and no ice issues last two years. I would say reduces 80% of the buildup, still a little, no seat heat issues.

Hi, thanks for the replies...
I was thinking specifically about the Grizztracks plate.
If I recall correctly, the tunnel protectors are about 12" apart, so maybe 14" total, with flanges bent at an inch? What gauge are people using?
I'm going to get the sled out of the shed this weekend, was hoping to have the metal in advance.
No snow here yet..... 2 weeks ago there was 8-10" down.
