Hey guys, I think this has been discussed, What are the bad parts of dumping the exhaust straight down from the down pipe.

Running lakes, trails, and roads. And pretty much a joy riding lake race sled. No powder riding

I am thinking of a few different mods and this would be the easiest way for the exhaust to go....but like everything else.. nothing is easy..

Is heat an issue on the track, or pressure build up on exhaust dump?? Is Noise to much for the MAN..

thanks

I dont have any trouble melting the track. Here is 3 of the downpipes I have had, thinking of switching to the one with longer wastegate pipe any suggestions.

I don't like to let mine run too long without moving it or having some snow on the track because all that heat comes out three inches away from the track. It can't be doing the track any good. Also I don't think the a/f sensor works properly when it is that close to the end of the pipe. Mine is about 4'' from the end and my a/f ratio has been showing lean by two points since I went to the downpipe.

Go with the powderlites Double Down pipe, you will get better performance the the other two, just gets the exhaust out quicker and helps with spool up and heat build up.

Thanks guys keep the info coming...

anyone else run a tunnel dump for trail use?? I am running into exhaust problems with the XP seat conversion I am doing.

thanks

If I could put a muffler on it I would. Have to fab some stuff up.

That cat hurt my ears, My head rang for a few minutes when I was standing next to him at the starting line that day :)

With the new seat/tunnel set up I have no room to run exhaust out the back. I might have to buy a tig welder and get to some fancy stuff....
