Since i'm torn down for the exhaust job is it ok to remove the tunnel protectors to stop the ice buildup. Both the 05 rx1 and 06 Attak are unstuded but I wondered if there were any issues with removing them. They look like they add some structural strength to the tunnel besides protecting for studs. Thanks for any replys!

they are not a structural part and removing them stops a lot of the ice buildup. be careful cutting out the front ones on the exchanger.

The tunnel protectors provide no support. They are held in place on the side of the tunnel by a VERY flimsy bracket.
To remove the rivits at the front of the tunnel I used an impact hammer w/ a 12" chisel bit. Mine were loose In the rear and my track was hitting them. It was time for them to go :)
