The rivets in my tunnel protectors have worn through and the tunnel protector is hanging down in the tunnel. One of the actual brackets that attaches to the tunnel is briken as well.

Has any one experienced this and if so can it be repaired without replacing the protectors. I have to replace the exhaust donuts and would be the best time to repair.

The rivets aren't wearing thru, they are ovaling out the holes and pulling thru. (At least in my case) The left protector was hanging down. Took it to the dealer and all they did was drill a hole all the way thru the protector and used a bolt to reconnect it.

Yeah, do the fix while the seat is off, it will only be a few minutes to do it.

Thanks for the feedback.

This was my solution, i was just worried about the bolt head tearing at the track if it protruded from the tunnell protector.

Tunnel Protectors

Do you have a picture??
I think these are the 2 rails that are aluminum on the top side of the tunnel??
I remember mine are loose at the end and I don't see any rivets at the back part of the sled.
Wondering if mine are falling off too.

I ended up bringing mine to the dealer to get the exhaust donuts fixed and left the task up to them. Carriage bolts may also be an option if you can get them tighten them enough without them spinning. the rounded head would be easy on the track.

I suspect mine became lose over time. I ride aggressively and the sled does bottom out as it should once in a while when correctly set up. The final blow was the shock mount breaking off the rear pivot arm in the middle of the lake. The rear skid totally collapsed at 75mph which made the track contact the tunnel.

The dealer was able to rivet them back into place with the seat and heatsheild removed. Not sure exactly how they did it as the sled is still there waiting for parts.
