How many guys have removed there's ?? On the 09 xtx.... Just thinking about removing them and it really seems that it would help the ice/snow build-up..and then im going to put on a tunnel close off plate... If anyone has done these mods, please let me know the negatives or positives about it...any tricks I need to know, i have my skid out and my exhaust apart, and now would me a great time to take out the tunnel protectors, so please let me know soon if you guys can... thank you in advance....

I took mine out on my Apex. Same concept tho. If you don't run studs they aren't helping you at all. Just build up 30 pounds of ice is all they do.
If your skid is out, this the time to remove what you can. There is some of the protectors on top of the drivers and in front where you won't be able to reach. Can only get those areas with the track and drivers out of the sled.
But you'll be able to remove most of it, and the areas that build up the most ice. I used a dremel and cut off wheel. It's not too bad of a job.

I removed mine after my first weekend of riding and the subsequent removal of 30-50lbs of ice, minimal build up ever since!
