Turbo blowup

Has anyone heard of a turbo exploding I have a mid mount header
and people are tell me to build a shield . I have never heard of one
exploding.

I think the shield is for the heat not for it blowing up.

No turbo's don't just blow up throwing shrapnel at you.

The turbine wheel wont ever make it thru the cast iron housing, it just sends what is left of the fins out the downpipe, the impeller side just chews into the housing then sends aluminum into the intercooler. Maybe he was thinking heat sheild? Forsure needed to cover the hot housing.

No these guys were saying the turbo could blow up and I never heard of that. So I thought I would ask . They also didnt have turbo sleds.
