I have found an uninstalled MPI turbo kit for 2700 cnd. My 14 rtx only has 4500 km on it and is in good shape.

My question is how do you like the turbo kit pre 16 obviously. Do you have any reliability issues or other undesirable problems that may be rectified with the sidewinders ? I am well aware of the usual viper issues of course.

I really would like a sidewinder however the wife is not keen on that idea at the moment. Im thinking this may be a way to tide me over a few years until I can get the ok.

I think the consensus is that besides the 2016 rod issue, the MPI turbo at 190 is a great kit. Good reliability, no major loss of fuel economy, and lots of bang for your buck in terms of hp/$.

That said, if you're already planning your exit strategy sinking money into a machine you'll trade in is probably a bad choice. You're better off saving up for the SW if you're seeing this as a 2 year holdover. If you think you'll keep the sled for 4-5 years then maybe it isn't a bad move.

I got the viper when they announced the SW. I knew it wouldn't be the hottest sled on the market even with a turbo but the value was there for me.

Wait for sidewinder don't waist your money I agree with alexm2816

Turbo the viper for 2700, that is cheap and it is a very good kit. If you are going to keep it for more than a year or two it will be a ton of fun. I have a 2016 MPI and it runs great and with no issues at all. If your plan is to buy new next year then save for a sidewinder.

I agree with all the above. How long before you can make the switch to the Sidewinder would be my deciding factor. Had I known the Sidewinder was coming I would have never sunk the money into my mpi kit upgrading it like I did. Sidewinder has an engine purpose built for boost. It's an amazing piece of technology.

As a previous owner of a Cat turbo, and, current owner of a Viper, all I can say is .... S I D E W I N D E R .
