Just installed my turbo, double checked all wiring when i did it. Turns over great, but will not start. What am i missing? Should I throw new spark plugs in? I'm at a loss.

Cam timing probably. You slot the sprockets just as instructions said? A sprock one tooth off? Do you notice the motor spins over a little funny, like too fast or fast then slow? Sometimes motor will make funny intake/exhaust noises like light gurgling when spinning over when cam timing is off.

Have you even checked for spark? That's ALWAYS first. If yes, are plugs wet with fuel? And yeah, you should always throw new plugs in on a fresh build. Why not?

I assume your motor ran good before the install, so it really only can be wiring or cam timing, or maybe a fuse.

Was tired and lazy last night, hoping someone would have a quick easy answer on something that could have been missed. Motor sounds just fine when turning it over, just not firing. Will pull the tank to check spark and put new plugs in today. Cam slotting was done by the shop where I bought the kit because I was too chicken to do it! HA Installed the cams, got them to where the marks were basically where they were stock, lined up with the edge of the head.

Thanks for the advice. I will be back later hopefully with a good report, or more questions!

Update!

Pulled the cam cover off and the oil tank and lined up the timing mark and the cams were off a tooth. Not sure how, because everything was lined up when it was put together but the only thing I didn't do was turn the engine over and check them after the tensioner was put in. So, retimed the cams, put the tensioner in and everything was good although the intake did move a tooth the first time I tried while putting the exhaust in, but got that straightened away and put the sled back together and it fired up right away other than a Code 30 which was cured by pressurizing the oil tank a little bit.

Took it for a quick run and it sure feels fast. Now I just need to get this thing clutched to handle all this extra power! Anybody have a good starting point? The shop gave me some rivets to put in the fly weights as a starting point.

I am running the mcx clutch kit which consists of new weights and a new primary spring. My engagement is about 6900 and it seems to pull good.

I have heard varying reports on how good the MCX clutching works, especially for ditch banging and trail riding, ie non mountain riding on an FX. Did your clutch kit come with the turbo or did you purchase it afterwards? Any idea on cost of the MCX clutching?
