Has anyone had the bolts at the Turbo/Header come loose on them? I had the nuts come right off on it's maiden voyage. The problem could be that I had use a regular exhaust gasket and when that burnt off the tension came off the nuts and vibration then took over. Just wondering if this has happened to anyone else. Besides lock washer, what should I use to keep it secure?

double nut it. Doesn't hurt to put a little high-temp silicone on the threads either.

You must use the metal lock nuts and i doubled them up too.

You should be using the stamped steel gasket. I would not use lock washers I would use a locknut and not a nylon one either.

Stover nuts with loctite or locktight, what ever.
When I changed to the rearmount I noticed that three of the four bolts were missing
No nuts to support the bolts on the frontmount. On the rearmount I used cupperpaste(?) on the bolts with some exhaustgasket glue between turbo and pipe and it seems to be tight so far.

With teh heat a turbo produces Locktight will not work. I alos used the metal lock nuts and they worked great.
Thanks guys, I was told not to use lockwashers, so I'll try and use the double nut thing, hope I can get two in there!!!

You were told right. The heat destroys the waswhers. These nuts appear tobe the ticket for turbos. They look to be copper.

Can anyone tell me if the turbo (garret gt20) can be taken apart between the turbine and the exhaust without replacing seals and such? There's one nut that I can't get a wrench on to tighten it and I think this thing may have to come apart to tighten it down properly.

You can remove the turbine and the compressor housings from the center rotating assembly without having to worry about the seals.

Yep, undo those and the center section will separate from the housing. Be careful not to drop any of the plates that sit behind those bolts - there should be 3 of them.
Thanks Jim, I'll tackle it tonight.
