Hello has anyone put a twist throttle on there sled? What are your thoughts and what's a quality kit?

Yes I did and thought its great. Made my own with a Magura twist, custom made cable from MotionPro, even put the heated grip on. Then I got a Cat which had a formed handlebar instead of J-hooks. Thought about cutting the bar but didnt. Had it on 2 sleds, a 500 and a 800. My buddy still has his on. Still people FREAK out when he shows them. I much prefer the twist vs. the flipper.

I have arthritis is my hand and it gets some with the flipper so that's why I'm really considering the twist throttle on my nytro

Doo has come out with the "flippable" flipper throttle where you can spin it around and use your fingers instead instead of your thumb. Makes sense. Don't know why snowmobiles went with these flippers instead of twist throttle. Maybe due to freezing?

Doos got nothing new, we been flipping these around since the early 90s. Just had to disable the kill switch so my knee did not hit it. Now a days the bean counters have sharpened the pencils so sharp, there is not enough slack in the wires to spin the flipper any more.
I rode a home made sled several years ago up in the UP. It had a motor out of R-1 with the gear box and clutch and foot shifter. It had the motorcycle throttle also. It took a bit to get used to shifting gears but it was a beast and the twist throttle was neat.

The twist throttle is ok on a trail sled but won't be good on a mountain sled. It will be hard to maintain the throttle position when turning the bars hard and fast in a technical line.

A throttle assembly from a Honda crf250 works well on Yamaha sleds. The threaded adjuster on the carburetor end of the cable is too small to screw into the cable mount, but it works to just clamp it between the two nuts, custom cables would fix that. I use an aluminum throttle tube, it works smooth and there is no chance of it getting soft and sticking from the handlebar heater. The one from G2 has snap on interchangeable cams.

So a 40mm cam gives 1/5 of a turn or 72 degrees of rotation.
A quickturn cam for 1/6 or less may still have enough movement.

With a set of pro taper handle bars.
I even drilled the side of the dual gasser and tapped the hole and put in a microswitch to keep the tors working.
The only problem with a twist throttle is, when you have to make a slow tight right hand turn. It puts your wrist at an odd angle. But with the dual gasser, you can use the twist or the thumb at any time. I've used this for so long I don't even think about it when I switch back and forth while riding. You lock out the twist by pushing in the pin and you have a straight thumb throttle. When the pin is pulled out both twist and thumb are free.
I feel I can hang on a lot better in the rough stuff with the twist throttle.

i would guess you would have issues when really hitting it coming out of a corner and holding on they throttle would keep twisting, but i guess people tell me that about my three wheeler and i have no issues...maybe ill look into this as well...
No, I have more problems when turning around and trying to start moving with the bars all the way to the right. The pro taper bars are probably 2 inches wider than stock. So it makes it feel like the bars are turning further than they normally would. When you're moving on a trail it's not an issue at all.
