has anybody tried or Installed a twist throttle on thier sled and how do you get around the tors system.

I think a twist throttle would be uncomfortable on a sled but that's just my opinion. But to get around tors, I'm guessing you disconnect it and wire a resistor? If not the engine light will come on I'm guessing. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I looked seriously at this but went with an ATV throttle instead.

If you go with a twist throttle and you want it to be heated you'll also need to get an aluminum throttle sleeve and run AC or RSI grip heater elements. You'll also need a new kill switch or install a tether. And, obviously you need new bars or to cut the hooks off your stockers.

Getting around the TORS feature is easy; just connect the two wires going into the TORS switch together under the hood.

Well I would be using pro taper bars and I have plastic throttles off of my Yz450F I could throw the RSI grips on.

I didn't like the idea of putting heaters on the plastic. It will make the plastic soft and keeping the grip in place might become an issue.

Pro Circuit and others make aluminum throttle tubes that I think would be a better option to use with the heaters. I know DennisKirk.com carries the Pro Circuit units.

Good Luck.

FWIW, I have aftermarket ans OEM heated grips on several motorcycles, all with plastic throttle tubes and zero issues...

Twist throttles really dont work very well on snowmobiles.
They work fine on a bike because you steer mostly by leaning your body, but on a sled you steer with your shoulders and its really easy to give it gas unintentionally when you turn the bars.
Also, if you hit a rock or stump with one of the skis, it could yank the bars to one side, also causing you to unintentionally give it gas and bad things can happen.
If twist throttles were so great on sleds, they would come that way.

If anything is good on a sled it would be a good idea you know what I mean ,you could say that about any product.

Trust me, twist throttles dont work on snowmobiles. Like I said, if twist throttles were so great on a sled, they would come that way.
I tried a twist throttle on my '06 YFZ 450 SE and it didnt work very well. I read all those posts on various ATV forums that said basically what I said in my above post, but I chose not to listen. It was a lesson that I had to learn the hard way. I never crashed because of the twist throttle, but I came pretty close a few times.
