Under Seat Storage

Hello All,

I'm new to these forums and have been looking for an answer to a question I have, but have yet to find it... so I thought I would post up. I have an undertunnel exhaust and would love to utilize the under portion of my seat as a storage area for random little things. Currently I have a Skinz tunnel bag, but just needing and wanting that little extra storage. Throw me some ideas or possible solutions to convert this area into a nice little storage space. That is exactly what I am looking to do. Please, if you could, share with me the details... type of hinge, how thick aluminum, and how to open and close it. I have a cardboard template that I made for the door, but not sure how to go about it. Thanks.

I made it out of stuff I had laying around the shop
I bought the OFT block-off plate
I tried talking them into building a door, I think it would sell ( hint OFT guys )
aluminum piano hinge
flat piece of aluminum (too thick) but I had it
zues fastener to keep it closed

I tried looking at the local shops today for a piano hinge, but nobody carries one. I may have to look online for one, preferrably in black. A piece of aluminum I have and the rivets. The fastener I looked for today, but didn't find that either. Another online thing I think. Did you have to cut down the hinge, or was it that length? Never cut a hinge before, so that's why I'm asking.

yes I cut the hinge with a bandsaw

So basically just buy a continuous hingle, and cut where the whole pieces come together? The only hinge I find is one that is 24", but I bet I could use that and be fine. Now to find a place that sells those zues fasteners.

yes just cut hinge to fit
I cut and trimed door till it fit tight
I just drilled out stock rivets, so I could replace all factory parts!
then added the OFT decal for cool factor LOL

I got everything ready to rock and roll. I ended up buying some thin gage steel for the door. Felt more rigid than the aluminum they had. Cut the piano hinge, fab'd up the door and made the bracket for the Dzus fastener. I had an extra Dzus fastener so I'm using that for the door to stay closed. Right now, all the stuff is primered and I will paint tomorrow. The door isn't perfect by all means, but you can't really tell. Thanks for the help.
