Unloading last night off a four sled trailer, the ramp has a lip on it and as i was backing my sled up the carbide got caught on the lip. Well all of a sudden i see one ski pointing in a totally different direction. It looks like the spindle hyper-extended and the tie-rod link popped out from the spindle...

We inspected it and it seems to be fine... do I just put it back together, torque the bolts and off i go? I don't want to find out at 100mph that it could potentially let go or pop out again? I'm thinking it was just dumb luck it happened because of the angle of impact. Thanks in advance for your input.

I would deffenitly change that tie rod end without even thinking for a second! little price to pay to stay ALIVE and all in 1 PIECE, I would check all of the others...how many milles or k's on her? you should also lube them on a regular base, with any type of oil.

.

Did it POP OUT of the socket or the NUT got un-done, if its only the nut LOCK-TITE it and tork it up and your good to go, but if it POPED OUT of the socket change it.

It has about 5000 km and i didnt notice if the bolt/nut was loose. I grease it regulary with low-temp synthetic stuff. I don't mind spending the money to replace it, i'm just wondering if it really needs to be replaced if it looks ok and the way it happened. Normally your ski's are going forward, the impact of the carbide catching happened in the reverse motion.

Thanks
