I'm in the Soo helping 4Fighter put on his ECP kit and when I re-jetted the mains with the 165's the ones I removed were 75's and they should have been 135's. This is how it came from Yamaha and now the throttle is quite crisp but when you nail it there is a hesitation in the spool up then it explodes to normalcy. What the hell is going on. I also replaced the pilots with 20's over the 17.5's. He does not have the NGK 10EK's in it yet but it should run fine but he had this problem with hesitation before and had the dealer tune the carbs but they obviously tuned it to the 75's. Do these need to be synched or are they way out of wack and where should I start first?? HELP :o|

Your getting the hesitation cus the sled is not properly warmed up. If you let it idle for about 5 minutes & then drove it a couple of miles on snow the hesitation would probably go away. That motor takes a while to properly warm up.

I'm still shocked that it had 75 jets in it ! , Are you sure those were the MAIN JETS ?

You probably removed the pilot jets by mistake....seen it happen. The pilot jets are about 2" long & are long & skinny . the mains are less then 1/2" & short & round. I think you removed the pilot jets & replaced em with main jets.

Turk he also was adjusting the SYN on top, and thought that was the AIR/FUEL Screws which R on the bottom

you changed the power/starter jets, not the mains. The mains have o-rings on them, the starters do not. It should have had 135 mains & 75 starter jets in it. The mains will screw in either hole. The Pilot Jets are much longer. Take it apart & put the 75 back where you got them and replace the 135 with the 165. It will never work the way you have it.

When I had my sled in for it's first service (oil, carbs cleaned/set) a couple of winters ago, the kid (I mean 15 year old kid!) - switched the starter and mains when putting them back in. The sled would idle fine, but have no balls above 5-6,000RPM. The main mechanic tried it out, and put water on the floor boards too try and cool it down (as he thought it had overheated-even though, the light wasn't coming on) - wasn't until a couple laps around the back field that he torn the carbs down and found the problem...My sled has never been back to any dealer since (at the end of the winter - I also found out that the kid put the wrong size oil filter for my RX1 (one for a Raptor not the Grizzly - slightly less filter capacity)).

BINGO! That's exactly what was wrong. OOPS!

To my buddy Chris, who made arrangements to drive 4 hours to the Sault to help me, and to all who responded to our plea, I say THANK YOU! from the bottom of my heart! :rocks: :4STroke: :yam:

EXACT same thing happened to my buddy and he had a "so called" bike mechanic (Harley Mechanic) helping him out... :drink:
