This weekend out on the Apex & had then Fuel light go on. Went about 10 more miles & filled up (light on the entire time) and it only took 7 gallons. Does anyone have the bad experience of running out of fuel & then filling up to know what the "usable" volume is? I did a search & could not find an answer Thanks in advance for your reply.

I went 24 miles after my light came on and it was pretty well empty

I have tested my 2010 Apex LTX ( Since I carry 1.5 gal of fuel with me) fuel light comes on around 120 miles traveled. I have made it another 30 after that without adding my reserve. When I filled at the pumps took about 8.9 gallons. Tanks is 9.2 -9.4 gallons? I have been close to pumps when light came on and she would take a little over 6 gallons, so I beleave when the light comes on there is about 3 gal left? Of course remember gas milage can change in deep snow. This is normal trail riding. so I always figure my range to 150 miles depending on conditions and feel comfortable with my extra fuel I carry. I wish Yamaha kept the old 12 gallon tanks! These are my findings, hope this helps ;)!

have gone 35miles when my light came on 2011 xtx.

My 03 RX1 had just about 3 gallons left when the light came on.

I think a better way to phrase this is: when the sled runs out of gas, how much is left in the tank (unusable)? Therefore what volume of gas is actually usable. Thank you Bluebullet, from you reply it looks like at least 8.9 gallons of usable fuel. Has anyone run out with >0.6 gallons left in the tank?

Hello All,

I have a 2009 Apex LTX. I ran it completely out the other weekend with the white tube inserted in the filler neck in place and put in 8.6 gallons to fill it up to the bottom of the tube. Since then I have removed the white tube and it seems to get almost another gallon. Have not run it out yet to actually see.

I will post when I get a number without the tube.

BTW - there are other posts on here about the tube and it's reason to exist - more gov't intervention I am afraid. No downside to removing it though, just don't fill it up and then don't drive it (such as in a trailering) as the fuel can expand and go out the overflow all over the place.

My 2 cents....

06 apex... Light came on about 105... Shut down at 125... Restarted just fine... Drove 4 more miles to station... 8.89 gallons to fill it up

I have a 2011 xtx and have ran with the light on many times for 25 to 35 miles and never ran out and when I would fill the tank, always calculated out to about a gallon left in the tank when i would refill it, now that being said I also ride with a 2012 xtx and he did run out and there was not even a drop of fuel left in his tank, the sled was able to suck r right empty.
