Well my new USI skis came in today,so i got right to it,and assembled them with stage 1 wings front and back, and 7.5 shaper bars, and power steering plates, man do these skis look WIDE,they measure only 7" but look much wider, they should really help in hard crusty and loose snow,or deep snow, wont have any problem climbing up on top of the deep powder now,as far as skis goes, they look sweet on,but do add 2" overall to the width of the sled,so with that in mind,i wonder if my RTX w/simmons and this ER w/USI will still fit side by side, its an enclosed 102" outside measurment trailer, but i think its 98" inside,oh well only time will tell, the skis still look good. :-o

What color did you get? I think between those two sleds you are going to have line them up perfect to get that top down. The top only takes up 1" I think on each side... Nice to finally get some cooler weather up here and the teaser of flurries today. The lake will be frozen soon with the forecated temps. Let the drags begin!

what lakes do you race on in maine?

mnmsnowbeast did you run them with and with out the power steering plates. I have a set and do not have the plates in now and they take a bit of arm to turn but i like the bite. I don't have many mile's on yet but don't want to loose the top MPH with the plates if i don't need to put them in. Also do they track good (No darting) with the plates in. Thank's kviper

Hi tweaker, its an enclosed drive in drive out 16' i may have to drive one in,and back the other in,i got black w brushed aluminum saddles, they look nice, but the lack of instructions kinda sucks,i will call them tomorrow to see how the recommend i set them up,in reguards to toe/out/in or dead even, and which hole (3) of them to choose from under the spindle makes for less ski pressure, right now i just put them in the middle or stock hole.

Well i am not sure yet if what they sent me was in fact powersteering plates, they had two holes in them, measure about 3" wide or the width of the saddle, which is where in installed them under the saddle, and they are 1/8" thick, and about 8" long, they looked more like shims for the saddle or ski spindle than anything else, and it was the two holes that the carbide blots went up thru that hold them in place, and we are green so riding it right now is out of the question.. These are the easy steer plates. They can be placed in the center two holes (under the saddle) and when used they rocker the ski. In other words they give the ski an arched shape which will reduce some of the keel contact and reduce steering effort. As with anything it's give and take.

As for the three holes. The rearward hole will provide less steering effort as well. Removes pressure from the tip or the foward area of the ski.

Yes they are quite a bit wider, but what ski isn't wider then the stock ones. I've had my red ones for about a month now but no snow to test...till now hopefully after work.

Hi got apex rtx did your package come with instructions, cause the only thing that came with mine was the single paper insert about the keeping the carbide loose until you have the ski spindle bolt installed. Man for a ski that has so much adjustability they seem to lack instructions,i mean if i did not have an artical in snowtech mag. about there new x2 i would be clueless about which shark fin to get,and which plate does what, and no mention of how to set up your toe, some skis need a small amount of toe in,others want only toe out,and others need netruel toe,how did you set up yours? Mine came with stage 1 and 2 right now its at stage 1 w/powerplate under saddle and 7.5 shaper carbide.. Thanks Pete

Well as I'm sure you know being from Mass, we have a ton of lakes in Maine. Myself and Schmeg live near Pushaw lake. Pushaw and Hermon Pond are the two best places in the Bangor area to line them up on the weekends.

Pete, If you can, snap a picture once you have them on, would like to see them...

good to know, how thick is the ice?

No ice yet. I haven't driven by the lake over the last coupl of days, but I'm sure the coves are beginning to freeze. We need good stout weather for a couple of weeks to get it froze over good. Once the lake has a good coat of ice, it will make an inch a day with real cold weather. Hopefully week after next may look good. I will post findings on ice depth and condition once we get closer. Hermon pond will be usable a little sooner, not to mention there is usually a bunch of guys doing radarruns on Hermon.
