I now have 600 Miles on my new Vector.

I love this sled. I will now start to dial in the suspension to my liking. Need to take our some of the transfer. I will start with the control rods.

I have one issue so far, extremely fast slider wear. My slides near the back wheels are just about at the wear limit already. Elsewhere along the rails they are not worn nearly as much.

I have ridden in good snow conditions all the time. The most wear occured last night when it was -30 C and the freshly groomed trail had setup hard.

I have my track set to the loose end of the spec.

Anyone else having this problem?

When you say loose end of the spec...? If you have 600 miles on, I'd loosen it til it ratchets, then tighten a little. It's not likely it's going to stretch more. But, probably the hard trail last night that really did er in for ya.

Tork, that treadmill thing is hilarious! TFF!

The wear is pretty even on both sides.

I am checking with Yamaha Canada regarding the possibility of extra idlers towards the rear of the slide rails.

im not very famaliar with your suspension, but many of the pro non action units wear very fast at first and then stop wearing when they reach a certain point. my advice is to ride it and keep an eye on it . it might not change much from there.

Hyfax wear

I see at www.maxxperf.com they have a wheel kit with 6? additional wheels to add in the Vector suspension-along with the ice scrapers should help limit the hyfax wear.

One thing I have noticed with many sleds is the track is too tight, that's the first thing I adjust on my new sleds!

This is what I have seen written on this site too. Basically don't panic, the first half wears very quickly and then the rest takes a LONG time and a lot of miles to wear down. Many people change them too early to ever notice this affect.

I use a 10 mm open end wrench to check slider wear .if the wrench won't go over the side they are still good .Those lines on the side are deceiving
the slider wears round and looks wore out lots left . I am going to graphite next set already have them .

I am currently measuring 13mm left in the worst spot.

According to spec that leaves me with 2.5mm of wear.

I will keep a close watch on it.

A couple more hundred miles on since my last post and the sliders have stopped wearing (still measuring 13mm at worst points of wear).

I will continue to measure after each ride and let you all know how it goes.

Keep in mind that at very cold temps, the moisture content in snow goes way down, leaving little for lube. What ever drips off the coolers.

Don't start with the control rods in setting up your skid, start with the spring preload! Make it perfect for your weight and riding style, and leave the rods for the last thing. Most guys find a setting for trail riding and a setting for grudge racing, and it's important not to go over moguls in drag race mode!

Good luck, and have fun!
