I just got back from Northern New Brunswick, I have a 2010 Vector GT and a buddy has a 2007 Apex GT and mine is faster than his, is this normal or must he have something wrong. My speedo could barely touch 90 and he was showing 113 but I can catch him and pass him. This was on long straight trails (piston alley) and we both had them pinned. He has twice as many studs as me.

Either he was sandbagging, or there is something wrong with his Apex.

0-90 they should be pretty close, but then the Apex should keep going away.

yeah, i'd have to Agree, i was also up there Saturday and Sunday, trails were crappy, no where to get my 06 Vector above 50mph..one thing i do find though, my Vector reads a bit slow according to GPS 50mph (GPS) is 48 Mph Speedo, my buddy's Viper is reading 54 mph @ 50 GPS, but with 20 plus HP diff that Apex should walk away from you pretty easy top end, unless he's got his track too tight, secondary shimmed wrong for his Belt, or he was playing with you. I'm guessing he shoulda had you by about 20 mph top end..
Was there a Crowd at Governors? We didn,t make it over Sat Nite, stayed and chatted with Alyre instead..

We were at govenors Sunday for lunch and only 3 others were there. Nepesiguit to miramichi was the smoothest, I was maxing out at 90mph and I could pass him and he had it pinned too. Yesterday here on PEI I was getting 105 on the speedo (97.6 GPS).

You have a strong running Vector.
The Apex definately has issues. He should pull 115 mph on the dream-o-meter on any day.

This is the video that made it OK for me to "down grade" from an Apex to Vector.
Vector FI vs. Apex

The beginning shows the Vector carb vs. FI, the end shows the difference between the Apex and the Vector, ...in a straight line.

And the last shoot out results:
Top Speed:
Apex SE 2013... 90.91mph
RS Vector 2013... 89.64mph

1000 Foot Times:
Apex SE 2013... 10.032
RS Vector 2013... 10.447

Considering the fuel difference, the lower mounted motor, and the percentage of time I actually spend over 85 mph, I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything.

This is what is being found... The carbed Vector is slightly faster than the fuel injected Vector and with all of the improvements that were made by Yamaha. And, with direct injection in the future, probably nothing would change except the the extra cost. I can also take an Apex/ RX1 right up to 65 MPH before they can get going.

Linky no workee.

Top speed in what distance?

My 2011 Apex SE would do over 115 mph top speed bone stock & ran within 1 mph Top speed of My old Apex GT & RX1 both Supercharged 6 lbs in a 1/4 mile ish. [170 kph on GPS or 106mph]

Man I sure hope my new 2013 stocker works better than that one. My 2011 Stocker SE would destroy Vectors, handily beat 800 Etecs & some days even run close to my old 6lb SC RX 1

Wow. Sure isn't that way around here. My carbed 2007 Vector GT & a friends o5 Vector could not beat anyone elses 600 2 strokes. [close but not beat]

The new 1050 Fuelie Vectors spank all the other guys 2 strokes and will run with the 800 class sleds until close to 80.

My next stocker may be a 1050 Fuelie but no way in hell would I ride a 973 carbed again.

Yeah, the link doesn't work anymore. I should have saved the video when I could. I've been looking for it again:

Here is the shootout article, I'm not sure if you need to be a member to see it or not.

Here is the shootout information on another site, although the tables are hard to read in this format.

My 05 Vector was nothing special. Lost to 600's all the time. I bought the Ulmer Stage III for it along with different plugs and carb springs. Never lost to a 600 after that and would run slightly ahead of my Dad's rx1 to 60.

Against my Apex it would be no contest. I've seen 124 on the dream meter with the Apex, 112 was the highest ever on the vector.

My 2008 Vector is both quicker and faster than the only 3 sleds I have lined up against (on a long RR grade trail with decent snow). 2005 Sabercat 600. 2008 IQ 600 cfi. 2012 Switchback 600 (my father's). 118 dream meter on ice with 1/2" of snow.
